Has anyone else heard of this? They were talking about it on a local radieo show this morning and were jokeing that they would run a Corolla with nawz and a big wing on the rear and spinners. Well I doubt Toyota will field a nitros prowered Corolla a Solaria seems much more possible and they already have a proven engine that they run in the Craftsman truck series. In fact they are kicking butt in the trucks. Seems to me that
Toyota is well on its way to global domination.

They will not use a Corolla if its true
They would probably use the Solara/Camry or Avalon.
They will not used a nitrous powered engine.... because I think thats not allowed in NASCAR, not really sure though.
Toyota is not going to dominate the world because they are joining NASCAR... they're just trying to get people like me who are not necessarily fans of imports to think they are more "American". That's why they sponsor all these "American" events like sports games, concerts, etc.
The Corolla was a DJ's way of makeing a joke. Tho it would be funny.
Nitros=life time ban from the sport. Big no no !

Damn! Cool thanks.

It's true they will be entering Nascar.....unfortuatly your radio station sounds like @!#$s and are picking at the sport. Yes they are very competitive in the truck series but I don't see them competeing in Nascar very well ......look at Dodges first year back ...not what they wanted......All I know there is 25 days I do believe till Daytona.....
It should be interesting....
that race car looks awsome
these days it seems toyota is more american than the big 3, so i guess a nascar spot is only fitting, personally i hope they do well

ok is it me...or does that Toyota look @!#$ HAWT! That and the new Ford Fusion race car are actually going to make the NASCAR Nextel Cup cars look good again.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

even chevy updated there teams cars now they got a monte carlo SS body car
They change the body designs every few years as the body tech rules change. There are also rules as to which bodies can be used, number of actually cars that have to be produced/sold, yada yada.
The 2 shown this year, Ford and now Toyota, actually look really nice design wise. None of the @!#$ty looking Pontiac Grand Prixs and Ford Thunderbirds of the day can compare to these.

Well personaly I think NASCAR shouldn't let them in. Toyota doesn't make that engine for anything other then its race team. Tehm again I also feel thatif they want to run in the truck series they should be made to use a production sytle engine from any of the cars or trucks they make. Why should Toyota get special treatment in allowing them to custom design and build an engine strictly for NASCAR when GM, Ford, and Dodge all must run production style engine ? Its BS IMO.

maybe im just a redneck but i honestly im kinda pissed off.....
it's an all american racing series, has tracks in the country, has drivers from this country, and fans from this country, should have cars from this country right? hasnt had a forign car in it since jaguar tried for a few races in the 50's and didn't succeed, so why change it now??
Alot of racers from overseas look down on nascar because of their lack of new technology etc....why incorporate them now? I think it's gonna hurt the sport.
i knew it was coming cuz of the truck series, but whatever, not my decision.

Guess where Camry's are made? The "good" ol' USA...
And guess who makes Camry's, that's right, Americans...
toyota has had trucks in nascar for a while now
it was only time before the camery got big enough to be considered
but all the nascar bodies are all the same , only differences are stickers , and the motor

No they are not the same, there are big significant differences in the bodies. I think its a great move for Nascar, hopefully it can pull in a few more companies like nissan and mazda, but who knows. Id actually like to see Honda get into it. The sport needs something like that. Its not the same old redneck sport it used to be, Nascar has gotton much more sophisticated over the years
Ok, you know what you guys are missing the point completly ! How about NASCAR lets them in just as soon as Chevy, Ford, or Dodge can enter the JGTC. That way we can showcase our cars there as well. I personily think its BS the import cars can compete in all our major motor sports but we can't compete in theres in there country. Seems a little one sided to me. And yes I do realize they are built here in the US. But at least make them use an engine that is a production piece rather then this race only thing.
I'd be willing to bet that the only reason Toyota is being alowed to compete is they bought their way in. Either way its BS !
Till Milan and his GTO are invited to D1 compititons regularly and the Vette, Viper & GT can race JGTC they tell Toyota, Honda and the rest to pound sand.

they also had celicas in another racing series, cant remember the name of it tho
they did very well with them too
oh and i think toyota will do pretty damn good in nascar
and people that bitch about toyota being in it
you guys dont bitch about japanese players playing baseball do you?
same damn principal
No its not. Baseball is played in japan and we have guys on Japanise teams. I have nothing against them raceing here so long as we get to race over there. Fair is fair after all.

so there are no americans that race in japanese cars over there?
there are a few american players playing japanese baseball, but they still play japanese baseball which is a slightly different game
i dont see anything wrong with toyota racing in nascar
if you do, you have issues with xenophobia and @!#$
Why do you say that ? Is it wrong to want us to be able to compete in there raceing series as well ? I think its only fair.

i agree with you on racing over there, sure, but if the big 3 really wanted to, wouldnt they have tried already?
plus, if our cars are so great in nascar, toyota joining would be a non-issue wouldnt it?
i think some people in this thread are afraid of the possible success toyota may have in nascar
