Well, maybe my Cav isn't faster than my cousins 1997 Eclipse GST but One Day, Oh Yes One Day!! Anyhow I just have a question on his behalf about Aftermarket Headers. He's looking for something of Quality (obviously), nice looks, and good pricing. Also, if you have any places you'd recommend for buying Electronic Boost Controlers and other fun tuning equipment That would be very helpful.
Thanks
manual boost control only....electronic sucks
^^^^^^ agree and anyways if your really into racing you shouldnt need the option to up the boost on the fly anyways lol races should be set up not random thats how people get hurt
PPPSSSS!!!! MMMMMmmmMMM boost=yummy

I agree on the boost control.. Go manual.. If you want some electro-gizmo-fun then get a two stage manual.. Then you get a nifty little high/low switch and a solenoid to wire up.

wait a minute....wouldnt it be a turbo manifold that he is looking for? not trying to be a dick just really confused
Sure, I suppose it would be called that! I just thought that a header would be the same thing....but what do I know, I drive N/A! Thanks for the info guys.
ohhh come on kids...there's not just manifolds....when I think manifold I think big ugly cast iron stubby piece that has a turbo flange welded to it. Of course they make a turbo header...they are full of nice bends and shiny and pretty.....here..this is what you want...
Example
4G63T GS-T Turbo Header...thank you thank you i'll be here all night

touche, as i insert my foot into my mouth
dave lee wrote:Not to be a dick but does he really need an aftermarket manifold right now? Usually they come into play quite late into the game. Unless he's already previously heavily modded.
dsmtalk.com
dsmtuners.com
this link has some of the basics

etc....
Indeed...there's really no room for anything extravagant until you start moving things around....Granted that the GST's put down about 210 horse and can hold well more than that on stock internals....i'd obly start moving this direction when a big upgrade is made....maybe up to a 20g or an aftermarket Garrett...some head work., build the bottom end a bit..etc etc...cuz honestly the difference would not be worth the expense on a stock turbo setup.
mmmm DSM power.. Ilove it

true true, i see slowboy.com was already brought into play, but as for the amni/header Q, the EVO manifolds bolt up and are a ;itt;e less expensive from the ramhorn headers and such, and flow better.
just as a precaution, might want to tell his mechanic to check his rod bearing...i don't know if it was a fluke, but my friends 97 GST threw a bearing at 27k miles last summer, and he treated it like it was his grandma's cadillac....and i mean he never beat on it, NEVER raced it, and POOF it blew while he was delivering pizza one day....
Anton, your car looks like it has a front mount hiding behind that mesh things in your sig.. Might be just me.
He has these mods done, what would be the next best step ... Greddy 18G turbo Upgrade, greddy front mount intercooler + pipes, greddy type s bov, turbo timer and the k&n fipk thanks. Sorry I didn't include all this before but now what might be some mods to consider?
18G....?
good luck making you cavalier faster.... my Z-24 is still slower than my TSI.
and all the TSI's got is exhasut.

That was just a joke, but I'll keep trying!!!
Tell him to quit reading rice mags, greddy this and greddy that? Sounds like an import tunerzs parts list. Sounds like how a honda owner would try to mod dsms (no offense, they should just be done different ways).
The very basic would be open up both ends (generic filter, exhaust). Add bigger turbo (mitsu, bolt-on "50 trim", etc) , a boost controller, front mount and fuel, no manifolds unless he running like 11's right now or something.
I wouldn't use any greddy parts at all, maybe their blow off valve if you HAVE to.....
Obviously tuning will be the biggest factor, don't forget the inevitable clutch.
Hope he upgraded his injectors. If not, then he has much more potential. Tuning is also a must. Alky/H2O injection is also a nice power adder.
And like Dave said, intake and exhaust. Get that turbo breathing and exhaling better. Up the boost w/ the alky kit and get the tune/standalone to control everything.
