Ok guys heres a call to arms I'm sure you all will try to answer. I just read the specs on the new Honda Civic Si, 15.1 1/4 from the factory. Now I know I can take one but you gauys have a chance before they hit the streets to get fast so you don't get owned by another damn Honda. Just thought you all might like to know.
Good Luck

I'm thinking they will run more like high 14s. Never trust magazines. Damn, they rated my car in the 16s !!!
197 hp, lsd and a 6 speed looks like a killer combo if you ask me. This will certainly cut sales on the rsx-s.
15.574 @ 89 mph stock
my goal is to go out killing the low 14 high 13 sec cars personally
The one, the only, ME.
well sooner or later I'll be Supercharged, so I have to say that I'm aiming for mid 14s or so. that might be a bit high but eh. it's a good goal.
This was the same test that rated the cobalt at 14.9 in the 1/4. So I'm sure there will be plenty Si's that run faster.
Some Si's according to the Speed Channel will come from the factory with 197 hp. They're adding performance upgrades before they're even sold.
^^^wrong. all 2006 and up Si's will have 197 hp

I kinda figured this would get some flamage but I figured what the hell I'll just let everybody know.

yeah,197 HP but 140 (give or take a couple i forget the EXACT number) torque.
come on =X
what, 140lb-ft of torque isn't good enough? considering a 2.2 ecotec makes only 150 with .2 liters MORE displacement (and a lot less horsepower), i don't think that 140 is too bad
for something with 200 hp..no...140 isn't enough. haha
plus the 140 tq they got is only at very high rpm, while on our cars we feel the kick in the pants around 3000 rpm and peak torque is at 4250 (stock)
15.574 @ 89 mph stock
man, i wish i could compeat vs that si...

Where's borsty? Hes got an opinion on everything!
torque isnt everything, 197 horses makes up for the "lack" of torque
Yeah, torque only gets you moveing ( rollzeyes )

At the same time i doubt there are many Honda owners focusing on beating Beetles.

Good luck, your registry says you ran a 15.97 a little over a month ago.....

I guess since your car make 10lb ft of torque more and 60hp less you have the right to laugh at the SI........
BTW, a local guys whos shop was building a new SI for SEMA strapped it on the dyno and got some pretty impressire results. It seems to be following in the foot steps of the SRT-4 and Cobalt SS by the manufacturer power claims being very under rated. Bone stock the SI made 207whp and 154 lb ft of torque to the wheels, with the intake removed from the throttle body it made 219whp.

The new SI's horsepower results are from the new SAE standards of testing and certifing horsepower in a car. The SI was originaly given a rateing of 200 hp rateing by Honda who when the new standards came out had to re-do and re-rate it at the lower number that being 197hp. The new standard is now an industry wide excepted way to measure the out put and certify it by an outside impartial witness. That being said every Honda that I have read about had there claimed hp rateings cut due to Hondas
"fudging" of the numbers. ( not my words but those of Motor Trend ) They also rated the SI's 1/4 mile times at 15.1 , Automobile mag clocked it at a tick slower running a 15.2. Now I do understand these are tests done by a mag and some may argue the validity of there test results thats fine but I'm more inclined to listen to these magizines who have high test standards and don't "fudge" the numbers. In fact Automobile ranked the new SI above the Cobalt SS, the WRX, and the Jetta GLI. So it would seem if anything they lean toward the Civic. That said I run a 14.8 1/4 mile and the Civic a 15.2 so I'm not too worried about lining up next to one at the track.
