I finally saw a 2006 Monte Carlo in person today. Well, I think it looks ok, but is not very distinctive. This is my personal opinion. Drop the name "Monte Carlo" and instead revive the name "Chevelle". While a 303hp V-8 is a step in the right direction, running it through the front wheels only is not. Either go AWD or rear wheel drive. Style the car so that it has certain styling cues from the original Chevelle without looking retro. I know Chevrolet is trying hard to update their product line, but they seem to be stumbling through instead of making bold steps.

I think that naming the monte carlo a chevelleis a retraded move, and that they shouldn't do it. It is bad ebnough that there is a new GTO, Charger, Carger Daytona, Impalas, and malibus ruinning around the streets. Cherolet needs to go foreward in the way of new idersas, not old ones that are already done, If they stck with all old ideas, than we would still have carburators and not fuel injection. They need new ideas, and new designs, not reviving old muscles cars. That is a cheap move. If chevrolet started doing that, they might as well call themselves Dodge. As far as making it rear wheel drive, it ain't gonna happen. It would deter too many people, knowing that they are rear wheel drive, and loosing traction and sliding all over the road. People wouldn;t buy it. An AWD system is feasible but too much money in the end. Plus it would look like a truck with adding all the extra components for an AWD system. The car actually runs and performs better being a FWD, rather than a RWD. So IMO, naming a car a chevelle, is not a BOLD STEP, it is a step back and will only hurt the company further more.
I am what I am and it is what it is.
I am the 2nd most untrusted person in the world next to a lawyer, welcome to our dealership, may I help you?
Nothing wrong w/ the monte, it's sales were decent over the last few years, since it's redesign in 00
i drove my aunt's 01 ss, i liked it alot
The new Chevy's aren't all that impresive to me. The Cobalt is ok, but even the SS is nothing special. The new Malibu is ok looking, and they finally made the car worth driving appearently. The new Monte is again, bland, but ok. The new Impala looks damn near just like the new Malibu which makes no sense to me. I don't get GM . . .
whats wrong w/ rwd
the ss orignally was an apperance package
so they have performance and looks
other cars, better cars?
