It depends on a lot of things. My friends dynoed over 550hp and 500ft lbs and doesn't pull the front wheels but thats partially due to the fact that the suspension isn't setup for drag racing. Suspension, weight (more importantly where it's located), and many other variables are going to affect what happens when the car launches. You can have 1000hp and still not pull the front wheels if it doesn't hook.
but some sand bags in the back of it....that might help it out.

to be honest its not that hard, a bi shot of nitrous with slicks on LT1 you could prolly yank em up a bit, would probobally need a clutch or higher stall torque converter its not uncommon at all to pull one of the front wheels up, the body twist makes it a bit more difficult to get them both up but its not that rediculous
what they all said ^^^ altho with some minor suspension work and tranni work such as a stall..add slicks and skinnies and some mucho nitrous and theyd be up in no time..
a good clutch, slicks, and some susp tuning, and you could prolly get a couple inches on stock motor.
Don't steal, the government doesn't like competition
stock ls1 can lift the wheels with slicks and the right suspension

^oh and id guess and automatic, im pretty sure 6spds are hard to drag lanch
youd probably need a nigher stall convertor too.
-Borsty
slicks, stronger rear end, suspension. and a stall
WARNING: I bring nothing to the table.
^^^your telling me thats a stock ls1 with tires and suspension?????? how the hell can the rear end take that?? looks like a sway bar under the rear.
Sway bars are stock on them front and rear. the only problem I could see is twisting the car if you don't have the frames tied together. Its fun but you tend to brake things

drive off a cliff or ramp... or stop really really fast.
Andy
it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.

other cars, better cars?

The only thing you need is some suspension mods and a tyre...
Stock Hp/Tq will do just fine.
BS, the power and tq maybe their but, you are not going to do that with the T56 trans and d@mn sure not the 4L60E with out a pretty big converter and weight reduction. I have seen that picture before and I think I was at mir the day that happened last year or the year before.

Also if that was on the stock 7.5" 10 bolt rear, it isn't going to last long.

seriously with a 3k + stall some minor suspension and slicks an stock auto LS1 can do that.
-Borsty
Yup....
All stock motor can do that. Although, I see a picture of a car in drag trim. Who knows what else is done past the suspension and tires.
