LS1 will fit...you'll have to modify motor and tranny mounts, but it works.

You could stick with the stock engine, either 7M-GE or 7M-GTE or you could go with a JZ swap, either a 1JZ-GTE or like posted above a 2JZ-GTE. For more info, try checking out this site:

Turbo, Non-Turbo? Rebuild or go 1JZ are your cheapest options, rebuild it and do it right, don't cut corners or you will regret it, if your on a budget then the car isn't for you, sell it.

^^^ He knows what he's talking bout, those cars are serious money pits, my buddy has one and he's already put a few thousand dollars into his, although they are pretty nice cars, but for maintenance and the like, its crazy. They weigh around 3200-3500lbs. too, can you say BEAST, lol.

My friend owned an 89 and didn't care to put much into it, and he blew the engine out. Those cars are horrible on maintenance. Their not all that fast either. He had the V6 Turbo, but like it was said, they weigh damn near 3800lbs.

a supra came with a V6? wow that must be a special edition, cuz I'm pretty sure all mkIIIs came with INLINE 6 cylinders

They are heavy, but 3800lbs is an exaggeration. Curb weight on a mkIII supra 86.5 - 92 is around 3500lbs. mkIV supras (92-98) are a little bit lighter around 3400lbs.

supras dont need a V8 to be fast....

aww too many letters n numbers for you??

if its turbo rebuild it. If it isn't, put the turbo engine in it.

Don't do a 1JZ swap its dumb and overrated. A built 7MGTE can be just as if not more powerful for the same investment especially if yours is salvagable.

check out 7M power for a break down on some of (not all since it hasn't been updated in forever) the most powerful 7M powered supras. Like i said, this is not the be all include all list since it hasn't been updated in a while, but it has a nice little guide to rebuilding the 7M to be not only reliable, but a very strong street and strip contender.

Supras are indeed heavy yes, but mkIIIs come with tough powerplants capable of running low 13s with little money invested in modifications even with their 3500lbs+ heft. upgrade the turbo (granted your engine is fresh.. not necessarily built with forged internals) you can have an 11second street car.

If you go all out and fully build the engine (what I'm doing) the sky is the limit depending on what turbo you throw on the car.

They handle great, are extremely comfortable, and have a lot of extras that cars today still dont have.

However, like previously stated they do tend to be money pits. So unless you have deep pockets or a lot of time on your hands (ie a daily driver) you might be better off with a different ride. But insurance on my mkIII supra turbo is cheaper than it is on my cavalier and they both have the same amount of coverage.

well i acquired the car from a friend that drove it for a daily car. of course he got on it all the time. ive seen a guy start it..(it took forever) but it started. when it did....it knocked like hell...maybe a rod was thrown? im not sure....but it knocks bad...it drove...but knocked...

any ideas what this sounds like? and is this rebuildable? or should i just put a different engine in it?

well not sure. i havent got the contract in the mail yet. but they said that they pay 55% off of everything i buy for the car other than audio and paint. all i have to do is attend 4 local or national car shows or events in the next year. i had to pay an $88 contract fee or something like that. they billed my credit card.

but hey....what does the engine problem sound like that im having? should i just get another engine?

they won't pay for anything.

search for carsponsorships.com - it's the same people. go read the "how to be sponsored" sticky in the newbs section.

they will NOT help you...AT ALL.
