Nice! Drastic improvement on the times!
better times but its gotta have more in there. seems like it should be going just a little faster. who knows maybe it was a bad track night. congrats though.
congrats. surprised by the 60fts though with drs. i have pulled 2.11s with my stock 14" goodyears. where u launcing at??? wonder if u dont have much torque off the line.. either way its cool u finally got into the 13s.
You need to launch higher. PERIOD. Let those bitches go at 3500-4000 with 14 or 15PSI in them and slip the clutch a bit, don't just dump it. Your car will be moving 1.9s and 2.0s in the 60ft and that'll put you near the 12s.
You'll start to learn by the sound the tires make when you go how good your launch was. You need to learn QUICKLY what spin and what dead hook sound, and feel, like from inside with your helmet on. Keep good notes, GET A LOGBOOK FROM SUMMIT OR JEGS, on every run and soon you'll be part of the 12 second club
Oh and...
I TOLD YOU SO! I TOLD YOU THE RADIALS WOULD DO WONDERS!
Just a fyi....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-H4y7VpLCs Watch that and listen on the launch. You can hear the radials on my car just bite and go. I sounds like the cameras sound is fluttering but that's how the car sounds on every tape at that track coming off hard for whatever reason. That's the reason videos and notes come in handy. If I go back and look I can tell you every split, the temp, the humidity, the density altitude, the tire pressure, and more for that run. That's how you go faster.

traction does wonders
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Well for my first time launching the car with drag radials, I kept it conservative. For my 1st and2nd pass I launched at 2500rpms and did a 1st gear burn out. For my 3rd and final run I heated the crap out of them in 2nd gear and launched at 3000rpms.
I appreciate all the comments and the good advise from the Org. (esp. Hypsy and Blackbird Racing)
Hypsy, I did watch that video and I hear what you are talking about.....my car make the same noise off the line
i always ran mine with 15 psi. even now with the camaro i run the radials at 15 psi.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER DO ANOTHER 1ST GEAR BURNOUT!!!! You can't get the wheels spinning fast enough and you'll just weld your spider gears to your diff pin, like I did
2nd gear burnouts are where it's at for sure.
Get a log book and then shoot me a PM. I'll help you get the information you need in it to really study your runs. I know a great site for weather that gives a lot of good info that you can use to make density altitude measurements.
Practice makes perfect though man!

how much were the tires if you dont mind me asking and where did you get them? I think i'd have better times with DR's than my slicks which are better for auto-x than drag racing...

I got a great deal on them through my wholesale tire dealer. I work at a Chevrolet Dealership and bought them at cost.
The best place I've seen is Tire Rack....Jegs doesn't list the 215/60/14 anymore and I don't deal with Summit

AAAAHHHHHH NO @!#$!!!
ROCK AND ROLL!!!
Look man Hypsy and I Knew you'd get it there...
Now start building an enigne so you can really crank it up.
What was the temps like?
Outside Temp? Low 50s - High 40s by the end of the night.
It will be a while before I dive into the motor....Its my everyday driver....only 42000 miles on it
If I want to go fast I'll take my Camaro out and go low 11s....
I like taking my Cavalier on Fridays because of the look on people's faces when they just got killed by a "Cavalier"
hey nice passes man!
def launch higher and get that 60' down.. you should be able to see 1.9s with those BFGs for sure. I hit more than my fair share of them in the skwirl with a lot less power.
also for reference, I was launching at 5400rpm. Don't be afraid to rev it up if you have all your mounts done

In all fairness... Just because you have more power doesnt mean it's easier lol. The more power you make, the more finesse you need to hit the fine line between wheel hop, wheel spin and a bog. But I agree in more RPM's, you don't have to slip your clutch as hard with more RPM's.

The next time out probably will not be till next spring, unless I make a trip down to Atco (1.5 hr drive).
I don't think I'll go over 4000rpms, just for the reason of breaking something.
Thanks again for all the advise !!
PM me if you would wanna get rid of old tires

I'll sell you some new ones $100 a piece. Or I'll sell you my used ones for $75 each. Used ones have 300+ runs on them and 5 street miles and they look perfect and work amazingly still.

Wheel hop is what breaks parts on our cars not high rpm launches.
