Circle track (OIL BLOW OFF???)
Monday, May 07, 2007 2:31 PM
i have a 97 cavalier 2.4l. the way i have it set up right now is the little breather underneath the intake that goes to the throttle body cover. i removed it because when i go into the corner its dumping oil into the throttle body and burning it out through the exhaust smoking like hell. so what i come up with is routing a hose into a regular 20oz pop bottle with spunges in it and little holes poked in it so it can breath. well it worked for the smoking problem but its dumping almost a 1/2 to a quart into the bottle. so my question is has anybody else dealt with this kind of issue? And any other ideas would be helpfull? thanks schmitzracing

also, sorry to go off topic, but do you race dirt track, or hard? is your class all stock? or are you allowed to mod the car?

im looking into running a car at our local track, but it has to be basically completely stock. suspension and all, which we all know the j-body suspension just isnt built for that kind of beating. guess thats why i never see anyone running a j-body, lol

Not entirely true. Me and my buddies have been racing Js on dirt for a few years. Js are the fast cars on the track. The only real problems we have run into is bending a few front control arms every now and again and the right rear hub crapping out. The solution to the hub was easy. We just made one from a chrysler minivan fit, end of problem!

yah i was ;ooking at the oil catch cans on ebay but it shows that there are two nipples going into the can. do you just plug the other nipple? does it have to breathe? and yah i would have to agree j bodys are the fastest but dont ever count out neons or celicas! also that wheel bearing problem i broke two of them rolled both times. we just made one out of a trailer bearing. welded 1/4 plate to the bearing and then machined our holes.

Per our rules celicas and neons are not allowed. Motor has to be single cam w/ no more than 3 valves per cylinder.

I run a J body on an asphalt track and to tell you the truth J bodies are the dominant car out here wheteher it be 2.2 or 2.4 . i've never had a problem with mine bending or breaking anything so far knock on wood as far as running gear worst problem i've had so far is a few blown tires due to other drivers
