12.3 @ 114-115. Can't remember. That was on 10 psi of boost.

That motor is no longer in the car. It was 310 wheel HP @ 7 psi, 430 @ 16 and guesstimated at 480 wheel @ 19 psi. I got tired of the tranny breaking and it was just to hard to daily drive. It's got a mild mainly stock 3.1 in there now, still boosted. Mod list, look on the site, it's there somewhere......

I know this isn't a 2nd Gen Cavi (it's a 2nd Gen Sunbird), but there aren't enough of us 2nd Gens left to be choosy, LOL! Plus, underneath they are the same anyway. This time was from way back in 1994, but here goes:

RT: .574 (back on pre-LED tree when .500 was perfect RT)
60 ft: 2.167
1/8: 9.776 @ 70.47mph
1/4: 15.416 @ 86.54 mph

I don't recall the 60 ft or 1000 ft since I didn't log them in my log book (the original timeslip is still around somewhere though since I save them all).

At the time my car only had a HyperTech ThermoMaster chip and a 160 thermostat, since those were pretty much the only mods available back then.

I also ran a 15.422 @ 86.63 mph, and a 15.441 @ 86.39 mph that day, so it was no fluke run.

This year I will finally replace the tired original motor with 152,000 miles on it (that still manages 15.6 - 15.7 with Drag Radials, 62mm TB, 2 1/4" exhaust, etc). I will be picking up a freshly rebuilt block within days. I plan to keep it NA, with it's original style MPFI top-end (no hybrid for me, everybody has done that already!). It's bored .060" over, balanced to 7000 rpm and blueprinted, Crane 272 cam & Crane lifters. The intakes and heads will be ported and polished, and I am having a custom set of headers welded up for it.

I have done a little calculating based on past performance to get some rough ideas on what I can expect on the track. If the motor makes 180 HP at the crank, I should be running around 14.70 @ about 92.5 mph. If I luck out and it makes 190 HP at the crank, I should be running around 14.45 @ about 94.20 mph. If a major miracle occurs and I can make 200 HP at the crank, I should be running around 14.20 @ about 96 mph. Now tell me that won't impress some folks if I can do this and prove it!

By the way Nuse, if you can reduce that 60 ft down to where it should be (2.15 to 2.25 on street tires, or 2.05 to 2.15 on drag radials), and the port and polish jobs are done well, you should be able to dip into the low 15s, if not high 14s. I'm assuming the rest of the engine is stock and not tired out like my current one. If you drive these cars right, have a well prepared track, and good weather conditions (tail wind, low humidity, high BP, and mild temp), they can do amazing things. After over 900 1/4 mile passes in mine I should know!

read about the 3x00 top end build.

well worth it, i copyed my head porting job from a 3400 exhaust "D" port. worked really nice.

Chris, I believe what you say about the 3X00 top-end swap. Alot of people have done it, and have made good power with it. Now with the 3500 & 3900 options, there seems to be even more possible potential. I just want to see what can be done with the MPFI set-up, and I want to maintain original appearance under the hood of my car. I think that people gave up on the Gen II MPFI set-up too soon, because there were easier alternatives available. I like to be original, and to sometimes take the road less traveled. If I don't like the end results, I can always go hybrid at some point too!

^ thats why i ported my heads to look like a 3400 "D" port, this is also the shape of the GM "fast burn" heads exhasut port. loved it.

but the upper and lower of the 3ed\4th GEN 660 is WOW better, look at the 3500 upper plemnum. its HUGE

stock is nice but at the coust of Power? and its still Stock GM stuf....

any way.

BUT THE UPPPER INTAKE SUCKS. no easy way around it, heads can be fixed, but not a plenum.

Yes, I know the MPFI intakes really suck. I just want to see if I can make more power, and have quicker ETs than anyone has managed to this point with them. If I don't get the results I want (below 14.50), I can always do a top-end swap later. The bottom end that I am having built should be solid for years to come, and will handle the extra power if I do a hybrid top-end.

The rebuilt bottom-end should be ready to pick up tomorrow (but that's what the builder has been telling me since before the holidays! Oh well, I told him I wasn't in a hurry back in November!). I post some picks once I get it perhaps.
