not sure who still remembers my ride (can click the sig for info if not) butl i finally took the car to the track. i have been reluctant to do so because i was afraid of blowing it up
but i finally said f*** and went.
lets consider the inital problems shall we?
1. 195 wide tires
2. hard compound tires
3. first time with it to the track
.
.
.
4. oh, did i mention 195 wide all season street tires on a 300hp fwd car?
overall it was fun to get the cavi on the track and see how it did. i think if i invest in some mt's and halfshafts the cavi would have some sick times due to faster 60'
results in order
run:1
boost: 12psi
60': 2.362
e.t.: 10.042
mph: 77.215
notes: spinning tires whole track. also let up because of torque steer almost pushing me in other lane
run:2
boost: 12psi
60': 2.632
e.t.: 9.799
mph: 76.853
notes: bogged hard off the line, also let off throttle at end because egts were a little high (hence the mph)
run:3
boost: 10psi
60': 2.540
e.t.: 9.584
mph: 82.165
notes: bogged off the line again.
run:4
boost: 10psi
60': 2.333
e.t.: 9.306
mph: 81.508
notes: slipped the clutch this time, got some wheel spin, but didnt bog. short shifted a little bit in 3rd, but i was beginning to figure the cav out.
after the first run i figured out that i cannot go full throttle in the 1 to 2 shift. i have to feather the thorttle so the tires would not start to spin. i also dropped the boost with respect to that and also the fact that my egts were a little high for comfort.
final notes, if i were to continue to modify the cav for track prep i would first buy: hp tuners to tune the car's fuel curve with the ecu and not a mechanical fmu and afpr. next i would need stickier tires, probably mickey's. finally to keep the half shafts from breaking, i would need some driveshaft shop shafts. the total cost for everything would be around 1500$....the cavi is fast and has loads of potential, but for right now the goat wins.
haha crazy. lower boost net faster times
yeah the torque street is kinda scary when your not use to it

actually the stock cv joints seem pretty strong. sun cavi is running 11s on stock cv's with slicks
hahn made their 11 second passes on stock cv joints then switched to the DSS ones. dont think they ever actually broke one.
how often are u gonna take it to the track? might just be cheaper to get one from napa if/when it breaks. unless you plan on making that many trips down the track

well i just got down replacing them in the goat and i am not really up for pressing my luck in the cav. i dont plan on racing often in the car, at least not yet. i figure when/if i ever get serious the interior will end up being gutted and more money will be spent.

funny you say that...i've seen it before...
my buddy was running 14 psi and getting mid 14s due to traction, cut it down to 10 psi and ran a 13.1 @ 117, lol. That was with 19psi in crappy tires, 2.6 60 foot times and spinning through 1st and 2nd and bogging in 3rd. We should have been on radials but we just finished the new setup and exhast and had to run it...it was also untuned in a sense, basically tuned super rich to keep it from blowing up because the o2 sensor wouldnt fit the way we welded the DP on. Check in other cars after this weekend, im gonna put up sone pics and vid of it, he fixed the DP and its getting tuned @ 14psi on a t3/t4 60 trim with .63 ARs and a stage 5 comp. wheel on a LS Integra. Also gets dynod saturday,
