Today at the drag stip my cavalier got smoked by a camaro, but I sure did beat the heck out of a honda! Does anyone think NOS would make a difference?
What would it take to beat a camaro V8?
good luck young grasshoppa

You need to lay off the Fast and the Furious smeal and do some performance mods. You can beat a camaro but speed cost money, how fast do you want to go. Start with your basic uprgrades like cia, headers, pulleys, cams, practice, and so forth. Anything is possible if you try.
~Boost. Its what's for dinner!~
I can beat camaros........
SPD RCR Z -
'02 Z24 420whp
SLO GOAT -
'04 GTO 305whp
W41 BOI -
'78 Buick Opel Isuzu W41 Swap
I'm stock and can beat a V8 camaro. Then again its' an 87 with a 165hp 305 smogmonster......
and BTW its not NOS it's nitrous. Lie edelbrock, NOS, Nitrous express etc. It's not just NOS, say nitrous. And I really dont think a stock 140hp cavalier will beat any 5.7 or bigger motor in good tune.
1971 camaro 427 --- here!
Stock... and loving every minute of it.
I can take them too...........as long as they're stock and from about 95 and older. Ain't gonna try a new SS tho. Well not till I go forced induction of some sort.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
You should be able to beat the old 305's. The newer ones have that silly corvette motor, and get massive bolt-on gains, so unless your willing to dump silly amounts of money into your car it's a no go.
Just be happy your beating the Honda's, and upgrade your car little by little.
Header back exhaust, and a good intake will do a great deal for your ecotec, and is a good place to start your modding.
Then I'd move onto the throttle body, and an underdrive pully, then save some money for some cams, or a turbo setup, or both. depending on if you want to stay boosted or go NA. You can find a lot of good info in the boosted forum for boost applications and the peformance forum tends to have some good info on NA. Make sure you use the SEARCH button before asking a question that's already been answered.

No sorry , every Camaro ever is faster then you , and every honda is slower then you.
Not even NOS , hand crafted by Paul Walker and Vin Diesel could even help you.... im sorry.

But on a serious note ... listen to this guy ...
Basic upgrades ... like the cia , Central Intelligence Agency. Headers, since you only have one exhaust manifold , so two headers is def going to help.
----------------------------------------------
Start off with an intake ( AEM , Weapon R , INJEN ... ) , As for the HeadeR ( Pacesetter, Weapon R , RK Sport , Dc Sports ) Get a highflow cat ( RK Sport, Magnaflow, Catco ... ) And a cat-back ( Magnaflow , Borla, Megan Racing , or a custom bent one from a local muffler shop 2.25 inch for N/A, 2.5 inch for boost if you plan on it )
That will give you a noticable gain , then definitely get the Poly Engine mounts ( Upper and Lower ), and a short throw shifter ( B&M , Fidanca, Ebay brands ... )
You prob wont be in Camaro killing territory , but you will feel a major difference in your cars performance over stock
.
Stay away from CATCO! I have heard they are poop!

LOL
sorry, i know you don't know any better.....what did you run anyway???
try concentrating on cars more in your speed range, most camaros are gonna smoke you unless you have a ton of work
well the poor guy could def kill a v6 camaro if he has a Z. I know that my old z would tap any v6 camaro's ass...well as long as they werent insanely modded or something.
Anyway the answer to your question is...
NO! YOU cant beat any camaro with your cav, and go ahead and put some NAWZ on there... but be careful cause you might blow the welds on the intake then you would have to replace the piston rings you fried.
Later

I need photoshop...cause its time for a new sig
My best time was a 10.55 but my reaction time was slow !
60ft 2.3871
330ft 6.8940
The track is not a full quater that I ran on. Yes my cavalier has already been modified. But I was wondering if nitrous would make much of a difference?
So what would I need to reinforce so that way my engine could take the pressure?
Go boost and you can beat one. Look at the post in this forum, about 1slowcavy. Stock motor with turbo walking away from a LS1 that runs 12.8 all motor.

CATCO is a brand of catalytic converter that I've heard nothing but problems and CEL
from.

Yes! all depending on the year and engine size.my friend has a third gen trans am (1988) it has the 305 and its stock and my cavy is stock, we raced a few times and we were pretty close the whole way but I end up beating him by a car length, however I as well have a third gen trans am gta (1991) with the 350 and the cavy wont stand a chance I also own a third gen camaro Irocz (1986) but thats another project. so yes and no it just depends on the engine and mods
Cavalier beat a SS or Z28 Camaro.....?!?!? Not in a million years.

I spanked an LS1 WS-6... not a camaro though.... so yeah I don't think its possible
Looks like the camaro in that pic is gettin toasted up. Hey jackalope mr. anti street racing. You should take careful consideration in the spelling of your signature....
my friends 1996 v6 camaro rs is slow ive got him for about a block then he is all fast passing me. but still all i have is an RSM cold air intake, and a fart can muffler.
