Hi there , i recently acquired a second 2.2. ecotec motor for my 04 cavi and thought i would build it up some. My goal is about 200hp which brings me to my question.
I want opinions on how this could be accomplished in the cheapest way. I have ran a few scenarios in my head like building the motor up some or getting a Saab turbo.
The thing is i don't know which would be cheaper and exactly what i would have to do to the engine to get this kind of power. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Im no expert, but why not grab a charger kit in the classifieds here. they come up from time to time or you could search craigslist etc for one. Id think for the 1000-1500 these kits are worth used thats your best bet for your goal.

Stock eco + Saab turbo/or M62 Supercharger and you are there. There is no need to build an eco for 200whp. They handle it just fine.

OK, so my original motor has 150k on it . A 05 cobalt came in my shop the other day with a blown head gasket and the timing chain slipped 1 tooth. The engine has 58k on it. The lady decided to get another motor rather than fix her current one . So i got the motor for free . What i mean by (building it) is I thought maybe a better head w/cams and a intake would maybe get me the extra power , but i don"t know. I have a k&n filter and magnaflow exhaust on it which did seem to wake my current motor up some, but I'm looking for more power and thought this free motor would make a great donor. I'm new to boosting and building up new age motors i only have experience with building older hi-performance v8's before computers and such were an issue. However i do know where i can get my tuning done. I am interested in turbo very much and thought the saab would be a fairly cheap way to get where i am going. The question is what all would i need? I know people on here have done it , but being new to this i don't know everything i would need . I do know some stuff like the intake and exhaust manifold and of course the turbocharger itself . But what about injectors , bigger fuel pump? i have also heard talk of replacing the map sensor with a t-map sensor or using a fmu. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Search the Boost forum, everything you need to know is in there.
