Hi I am new on the forum, I am currently looking at a 97 Sunfire GT with 240km's on it and have a few questions. What are the main problems with these cars? What are the main thing that I should look at when I go to look at it, tires and stuff aren't a concern they are just general maintenance. Are the 2.4's prone to head gasket failure? Any answers are really appreciated. Thanks.

#3 rod bearing fails which is common once you start building an engine. Just keep up on the oil changes and youll be fine

oh by the way I use royal purple, why did my water pump go?
are you the original or even second owner of your cavi? if not wake up... water was used to cool and not antifreeze to lube and protect. oviously i cant answer that question at all because its YOUR car and you put what you want in it!
im the second owner of my 99 z24 and i havent had a problem in 6 years beacuse i use a royalpurple everything. from the trans fluid all the way to my power streering.... i dont have to go into detail but i BET IF YOU treat your car like you love it it wont wear and break down like A lemon! you choose your path!
that additive is so good it tells you st8 up "mix it w water' for the best protection.... but it does not change the boiling temp of the water it just created a protective film all thu your radiator, pump and motor so it can cool faster and more efficent when racing or any application you put it thu!
im not hear for laughs... well mabye just to laugh and people that dont treat there cavi like gold!
** by the way WHERE is your z24 interor? are you a fake or what? go to the junk YARD and get the whole interior for less than 300 dollars!

That GT you see there... is for a reason! a memory to never treat the car of my dreams like trash! i HAD a (2.4L) 1997 GrandAM GT w rims and everything five speed power everything viper alarm and self locking doors to windows that would roll up when the alarm was activated...i mean, THE Works... i was young dumb and my dad helped me w half so i was a super good deal...cost US 3,400 total. well anyhow to speed this up when i gave it to the junk yard for about 800 after 47 days w the car. i TOOK Everything I could including the emblems... it was not put there by the DEALER so slow down cow boy! and as for the "sucker" part of your sentence... tell your old g she left her dirty shirt here last night..!

from the looks of that picture obviously you know you have a fake z24 interior! side panels were changed along w the dash and your elbo rest! so please GIVE IT A REST! dont tell me you are proud of having a z24 w no interior. when your slowly changing it into the red & black Colors from a z24! who ever was your original owner LIKE MINEs was a cheap fool! im sure the z24 seats were optional! now we gotta go thu the trouble of putting the right seats in! im about to finish the swap now from u-pull it! i'll post the pics soon

My fake interior, that is more rare than the red interior.
I'm not slowly changing it over, I chose to use red arm rests, and I custom wrapped the center arm rest with the red fabric. This is the way it's going to stay.
The dash, is stock from the factory, two tone was an option, a more expensive option, but I guess that means that the previous owner was cheap.
Maybe you should take a closer look at the pic, maybe then you'd realize that it has the same pattern as the red and black, only it's light grey with black dots.

Dumbass... There is no difference between the two. Same seats, same dash, same console. Same everything. Only difference were what options you had. Which could be selected on any model.
