You guys seem to have the best site on the net and I am on the fence here. I love my little sunfire, it is a nice reliable car. I smoked the engine and am weighing my options.
I found an entire 2002 sunfire with only 52k on it for $400 and I am wondering if I can swap in everything to my 1997 car. My cars trans is a three speed and the 2002 is a 4 speed so I would like that extra gear for commuting. I would have both cars side by side, they both have 2.2l's and I would have every part between the two, is it possible or are there huge differences that would prevent the swap? I am not looking for performance, I want reliability and longevity and low cost!!!
And I searched this whole site and every other site I can find and can not locate a answer, if anyone knows something that would prevent me from doing this I would appreciate it!!!
yes you can do the swap. you have to strip your 97 to a shell and swap every thing from the 02(drive train, fuel lines, brake lines, wiring, dash, ect., ect.,ect.). the first time is kind of a pain but after 3 or 4 it gets easier.
