So I got myself an RKSport Intake, 2002 Eco Cavi, and as expected, the bastard had a little trouble getting in there. Once I got all the stupid crap settled, though, I'm still hitting the hood (what else is new). Anyways, I was wondering if anybody else had the same problem, if it's that big of a deal, and how to fix it?
Also, I've got an extra tube. The larger of the two has a place, and the sensor has a place, but the smaller one that looks as if it connects to a... rail of some sort? Fuel rail? I don't know, well, there's no place to connect it on the intake, so I just kind of left it open. I don't exactly feel comfortable with it, but it's like that for now. I was thinking of grabbing something to fix that up with, what should I do?
Also, just to make sure (I know, really silly questions I'm asking here, flame away) when I shut off my car after driving around for a few minutes, it seems to expel some air. Wanted to know if that's normal, or what's up with that.
I'll get some pictures in here tomorrow, and we'll go from there. Thanks.
I am kinda confused about your other questions, but the expelling of air is normal. I think you just don't hear it on the stock intake because of the baffles.
"The Blue Bullet"
Disregard the other question, I'm a moron, and I'll rephrase my first one.
The air filter is hitting the hood. Not just the lining, the hood. When I go to close the hood, it closes on the latch mechanism okay, but if I go to push it down further, I really have to push it down to get it to close, basically I feel like I'm forcing my filter down a little bit. Although I made sure the bracket was bolted on nice and tight, and I noticed that the driver side of my hood is pushed up a little more, so I guess I'm forcing the hood up, instead of the filter down.
Is that a big deal, or should I just not really worry about it? It's really not affecting the intake/filter from what I've seen, as I've checked it a few times over the past couple of days, and I know it's probably not good for my hood, but the intake bracket is at the very lowest it'll go, so I'm not sure what I should do to fix the clearance issue.
Thanks for your help, both in answering the previous question, and the hopeful answering of this one. Thanks.
My intake did kind of the same thing. Except it sounds like yours is sitting up higher than mine. Mine was just rubbing pretty well on the lining, and I found that from that my filter would get really dirty from sucking up all that sh@t that is in the lining. I don't know how yours is though.....and I really don't know how to fix it. It was made to fit your car though and it fits that bad?
Yeah, it's supposed to fit.
I just checked under my hood, and I've got that crap from the lining sitting on top of my filter too. Damn it
Here's some pictures that I took to show you guys exactly what I'm talking about. As you can see, the filter tore up the hood cloth thing pretty badly. As you can see from the closed hood pictures, the driver side of the hood is up a little bit because of the filter forcing it up.

Looks to me like you used the wrong bolt. What do you have the mount bolted to?
Alright, I think I've got it thanks to your ^ help on AIM. I've got a small thing that bugs me, but I don't think it's a big deal, I'll talk to you later about it. Thanks again.
take the hoodliner off...thats what i did to get the necessary clearnance.
GO PATS!!!
