Alright guys i have been a member for a while now but never really post much. My Name Is Sean. I Live in Western, MA and have a 96 Sunfire SE 5 Spd. I joined before to sell my Sunfire's Body as the engine no longer runs. To be completely honest i dont know why it doesn't run anymore. Before it stopped running it made a horrible knocking noise that my uncle was 90% sure was from a broken bearing in the cam shaft. If anyone has had this issue before let me know what you did or steps you took to fix it would be great. Right now im thinking about finding a used 2.2L engine or a 2.4L if i can figure out how to do that swap. And getting the sunfire running again for a DD. Right now im buying a 5.0 for my weekend car. So id love to get the sunfire back for the days not fit for the stang. If anyone has an idea of how much putting a new engine in will be that would be fantastic. And also if they can point me in the direction of where to find information (books, Websites, People) that can help me do the engine swap myself. Thank You Very Much, SEAN

start off by finding out exactly what is wrong with the eng we can't help ya if your uncle is 90% shure.If your looking for a motor check your local pick n pulls. it's really not that hard i replaced the motor in my 2.2 sunfire (had back in the day ) it's really not that hard just a matter of unpluggin the electronics. then undoing the intake and unbolting the tranny and eng moutns n she'll come right out for you. but find out what is exactly wrong with it befor you go n pull the motor if it is a cam you don't need to pull the motor.
