Im looking for some help with replacing quite a few engine internals for a N/A set up and was wondering who the local authority was? My main question is, if i was to replace alot of the internals, such as cams, pistons, valves, springs, rods, crankshaft, bearings and gears and then had the engine tuned by a professional setup garage, would my engine be able to exist since my 98 2200's ECU is almost non upgradeable from what ive read on the FAQ's and such? This really isnt hypothetical either, i have found a site, which alot of you have probably seen before, that has the internals for my engine and i have access to free installation of the parts professionally, and then would pay to have it tuned nearby.
thanks a bunch
No matter what you do your motor will always exist lol
I think I understand what you mean. It depends what you do..mainly compression. If you went from 9:1 compression to 11:1 compression, your computer might have an issue with it and start knocking if you can't use the right fuel to support it. That's just an example.
Before you replace everything in your motor, do you know what you're aiming for? Do you know what compression you want to run? Are you going overbored? When you say gears, do you mean for the transmission? Do you know what kind of grind camshaft you want to get? What kind of port job your want to do?
This is just some of the questions you need to ask yourself before spending money to open up your motor. Research each area of your motor and also know where you're going to buy the part from and the specs on each part.
