Heater Circuit Sensor 2
Sunday, December 18, 2005 12:36 PM
I have a 99 Z24 and recently my check engine light came on. After having the dealership check it, they said it was the sensor mentioned above (an O2 sensor). I have the Haynes manual and it says that I have a sensor before and after the cat. Does anyone know which one this sensor is? (I have ~85K miles on my car) I would like to change this myself if possible or atleast supply my own part b/c the dealership told me that the sensor would cost $258 and labor would be like $200. How hard is this do yourself? And could you please recommend a good sensor for me to purchase?
Thanks!

lol wow they really try and rape you at the dealer. if i remember right the one up front in the bay is the most expensive one and the one right after the cat is cheaper. best thing to do is get a volt meter and test the current going to the sensor. you can get meters from sears for like 20 bucks, thats where i picked mine up.

O2 sensors a pretty simple to change. It's easier to chang the top one from underneath the car. (It is on my 96 Z ) You will need to pick up an O2 sensor socket. It is just like changing a spark plug.

sorry, that made me laugh a little, I know what you meant, but you gotta admit, buying a VOLT meter to measure CURRENT (AMPS) sounds a little funny. Im sure you meant buy a multimeter or an ammeter to measure current, a volt meter can only measure voltage
