I know i will most likely get flamed, but at 28 this is the first FWD vehicle i have ever owned. This is a totally stupid question and i couldn't find a sticky or previous post with such a stupid question, which i seem to have a lot of, so flame away. Ok I was wondering if FWD vehicles have differentials like a RWD, and if so is it as easy to change your gear ratio?
Also would anyone be able to explain how cv joints and shafts work compared to a drive shaft and U-joints.
"Drive it like you stole it"
k thanks, that solves trying to find stuff to change gear. lol

CVs and half shafts are different from driveshafts and U-Joints. CV joints are used for Indepent Suspensions, either front or rear it doesn't matter, a driveshaft and u-joints are usually used to connect a transmission or Transfer case to a differential. CV stands for Constant Velocity and they can go through a lot more articulation before they start to bind up, which is why a lot of lifted trucks change to a CV driveshaft after about 6 inches of lift, because of the extreme driveshaft angleand movement of the suspension.
