What does the manufactor call for ? like what type or weight of oil, some idiot told me 20W-50 in my 98 z24... what does it normally call for? help!

10 w30 or 5 w 30...

I wanna know too...

i'm gong for an oil hange and want to put Mobile 1 10 W30 because I don't want to run to lean......

please confirm?

5W30.

But as a side note 10W30 and 5W30 have the same viscosity when they get warm, hence the 30 in both the grades. 5W flows better when cold so it can get going faster than 10W.

20W50 is just insane I think.

Well you can used 20w/50w only in Summer weather cause the heat out side bassically triples in side the engine compartment. With the heat like that alot of oils get really thin in which causes wear on youre engine parts. Other wise 5w/30w is what GM recommends, 10w/30w will work just as good.
