Ricey or not???
Sunday, August 14, 2005 11:53 AM
I want to sign up for a sponsorship for my car, but my boyfriend told me he didn't know if it's a good idea. Because on there letter they said the don't want ricey cars. I don't think my car is ricey, but my boyforend said our team decal makes my car ricey. I don't think so, but let me know what you think. I don't know how to add pic on here yet so please click on the link, or capoy and paste it http://www.teamjspec.com/2005/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=96&Itemid=52. The picture you're getting ready to see are before pictures because I get my car lowered and my body kit this week.

In all honesty I don't think they'll sponsor your car. Sponsors usually look for flashy, tasteful cars that catch peoples' eyes. Your car kind of screams 'stock.'

I guess it's worth a try though, the worst they can do is say no.

Er, just saw the lower'd + bodykit line,

I'll have to see what it looks like to have an opinion.

I know no they won't sponsor me now. I don't have much done yet. I'm getting work done to my car this week. My car will be lowered, my body kit will be on, My front and back lights will we different, and my interior will be finished. I'm trying to get my car right before Nopi. I'm just asking does my decal make my car look "ricey?"

Yeah I honestly don't think you are going to be sponsored by anyone legitimate. Major things that need done to your car, for one, lower it, remove the mudflaps, maybe shave the sides. Then after all that your going to have to do something to set you car apart from everyone elses.
The hearts o the interior add kind of a cool themes, but from the pics I cant tell how they were done, embroidered? Quality of the work matters so if its just stuck or painted on sponsors aren't going to take you seriously.

if i had a legit bussiness i would say no. you have really nothing done to your car. nothing that really stands out in the crowd. if you want a sponsorship, you need to prove that you are worthy. go out win car shows around your area. get a collection of trohpies to present. and get something done to your car

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

Did anyone take the time to read her post? She already said the car was getting lowered and a body kit, and only asked about her decals.

At first glance I would say they add personality to the car, and are definatly not ricey, but like someone said above, it will really depend how they are put on and how they look in person.

Thanks Eric. I DID NOT ask if you think I would get the sponsorship. I asked did my decal make my car "ricey." That's all I want to know. So everyone before you respond read what I actually put before you just put anything down. I know my car still screams "Stock" and that's cool. I'm gonna take my time with making changes to my car. I didn't ask for an opinion about my car I just want to know about my DECAL.

ricey isnt even a damn word. usually sponsors look to sponsor people who are above the petty crap in the car world.

if you post your car, your gonna get opinions whether you asked or didnt ask. if you dont want opinions on something keep it a secret.

You usually need alot more done then lowered and a body kit and a little interiror paint to get sponsored...

So how many tvs do you have... Lambos? Trunk set up? 18 or bigger?

I mean hell you have that killer "euro" wiper thing going lol

Good luck I need to see a final product .

o a sticker is a sticker

sponsorships are hard to get and they take alot of work. also you have to remember its not all about the car too, its how your present yourself also. your going to be representing the company too, not just you car

well i guess i will use my last post for the month to try to give you some help

ok to start, you need a drop or bags and a body kit of some sort (im fully aware that you said you have this comeing next week but im trying covering all bases here)
extreme mods can get you sponsors quicker such as
lambo doors
sucide doors
reverse sucide/lambo doors (saw it in last months issue of import tuner i think, on a supra door go up but backwards)
head/tail light conversons (or shaved head or tail lights)
rear or front end conversons
molded bodykits (most sponsors i come in contact with prefer it)
big rims (those on your car wont get it, just being honest)
big system setups (tv's, powerful amps and subs indashes, molded tvs,)
ive also noticed that systems with themes work like a color pattern or haveing like clear tubeing with a colored fluid running threw them like a coolant (ive seen it a nopi...
custom paintjobs flashy or not
color theme (dont have about 50 different colors)
engine mods such as turbos, nitrous, some people paint parts of the engine or use carbon fiber.
racing seats
neons (accent your ride ) but in my opnion it looks cleaner if you cant see the neon tubeing.
airburshed graphics (vinal looks cheap)
no tint is good if your going to have your car in a show with the doors closed but if you have lambo doors i think tint is ok because the doors will be up so people can still look inside.

well thats all i can think of right now if anyone else has anything post it.
also, i just want to add i have a sponsorship right now (forbidden motorsports) and have had several in the past. and i have put about 20,000 in my cavy doing stuff and redoing stuff. and i have never received a full (everything free) sponsorship. true the discounted sponsorships help but to be honest, if you look hard enough you problery can find what you want on your own cheaper than getting it by a sponsor. i never use mine everything ive done to my cavy has come out of my pocket.
sponsors want to see you dump a ton of cash into your ride before they give you a dime so if your not willing to go to the extreme or are just broke, dont waste your time trying to get sponsored because you will just get no after no or if someone does pick you up it will not be a full sponsorship. take it from someone who has been down that road, its just better to do it yourself.

thats where ALOT of you go wrong.... thinking you have to spend so many grand for a sponsorship....

i believe hypsy got a sponsorship on an older car with not much in it...mainly because he came across as responsible and professional and made effort.

even in 04, when his car was new a stock 03 or 04, he had the same sponsor.

you dont have to dump crap loads of money into your car for a sponsorship.... you simply have to be dedicated, attend shows, make efforts to show your car and yourself in a professional manner, and not be some idiot kid whos simply looking for a way to get cheap parts. which is what 95% of the people who apply for sponsorships are....

one thing alot of you will learn with cars.....

time
money
knowledge

pick ATLEAST two and you will go far

yeah your right but i have to say this. every sponsor ive ever had either saw my car at a show and approched me or saw my car on our club website and sent me an email and asked if I would be interested in a sponsorship...ive never applied for one except when i first started looking and i applied on carsponsorships which i found out quickly was a joke....i dont think if my car was stock they would have even looked my way...so i feel that the car was the eye candy but i had to sell myself but im a nice guy so that wasnt hard.
