supercharging

anyone ever mate a dual quad 8-71 weiand roots blower.....to a dual quad weiand tunnel ram?
i wanna use (2) holley 850 dominators, custom 2" x 24" x 5" headers, 4" duals, side exits (4 x 4" per side), dynomax or borla collector/mufflers.

i want to put this system on a 665ci merlin/chevy tall deck.
bore: 4.600", stroke: 5.000"
MAX. TQ @ RPM: 893.4 FT LB @4,900
MAX. POWER @ RPM: 904.2 HP @ 5,900
AVERAGE TQ: 837.2 FT LB
AVERAGE POWER: 734.1 HP

(contributed to ken duttweiler, hot rod magazine 09/04)

i want to put this in a 1994 cav 2dr./ 2.2L L4 m/t.
might just be fantasy but i want to have a 1500hp super-rammed cavy.
these cars are so light.....im used to 6,000 lb F250's.
could use technical info.

LOL, first you have to worry about converting over to a carbed setup.

You can't just pick somebodies setup out of a hot rod magazine and think that by putting it on a COMPLETELY different engine that it will yield the same end HP. You would spend so much money getting all that to work that you would just be better off buying that engine and converting to RWD in the first place.

you seriously want to put a 8-71 blower on a 2.2

that is just so wrong in so many ways

1 itll take all the power the 2.2 can muster to spin it to get any boost , that itll be close to worthless

not to mention its way to big for the 2.2 , youd be better getting a M45-M90 , or a centrifugal s/c and using 1 of them , you will be alot better off in the long run

no, the engine is a bored and stroked 454 chevy big block, it displaces 665ci.
i want to swap the 2.2 with the rat and change it to rwd.
i like tunnel rams, but i also like 6-71/8-71/10-71 blowers,
im thinking if i fab the two together i can combine the blowers low range rpm with the rams upper range rpm.
maybe i should put the cav's body on a 1979 scout 2 chassis?

nop that would be a BBC

that blower displaces more that a 2.2 OHV...LOL

i know thay make a kit to use a SBC, from there all you would have to do is get difrent motor mounts... better make a fram for it though... alot of tourqe and youll have mustang-II syndrum and smap that unibody...lol funny though... id love to see the look on someones face when that thing pulls up loping at 1500.... id tell them its got a mis-fire.

for real Paul, you are looking to spend a heck of a lot of money to do this.
its not easy to do. it takes time and the know how to do such a thing. lots of people have tired to convert cavs and fires to RWD. but very few have actuall done it succesfully

go buy a lambo lol....

I don't think it's fesable to do what you want, and if you could do it i'm not sure why you would do it with a 2.2 cav... ????

im sorry, its a hell of an idea dont get me wrong but it would look stupid on a cav. if your gonna spend that much money, i suggest you actually make a hot rod

you'd be better off dropping that bad boy into a 3rd gen F-body, or a Monte... cheaper to come by, and easier to swap a BBC into (not to mention more bad-ass looking than WTF-looking )

oh yeah, it u bore and stroke a run of the mill 454 to 665 the water jacket walls are goin to be too thin, or non existent

that merlin 665 BB is a custom race block.

merlin tall-deck (10.2")iron short-block, .060" overbore, clearance ground for the massive crankshaft, modified-custom waterjackets(offset), snake-ground oil feed holes/runners.
that merlin longblock/turnkey is way too expensive, but the bareblock/shortblock is about right.
just about every chevy bb is a variant of the 454, except for the 572, and the 762 sonny leonard (donovan) blocks.
i ground the jackets away from the cyl. walls and sintered iron filler in the jacket areas nearest the cyl.

ARTICZAP the corvair would be an awesome platform, but i would need to figure the geometry out as i would have to mount the motor transverse.
are their any cv manual gearboxes that can handle 1000+ HP/TQ?
