I finally had time to work on my car this weekend and here are the pictures of the destruction.
Here is a picture of the right side axle.Somehow the tripod joint popped out of the inboard housing.
Can anyone spot what is missing from the left side axle????

I had to grind down a screwdriver to hammer out the broken piece. It was a PITA because of the cross pin in the way, but with lots of grinding and shaping of the screwdriver I got it out.

So 3800 swap? You'll need an ohv getrag to bolt up to that.
an easier way to remove the broken shaft is to drill and tap it the screw a bolt into it

yes gut there is a risk of shavings getting the transmission. i prefer the way he did it. i just use a smaller diameter screwdriver that is on the long side.
not if you smear grease all around it to catch it
