No you are correct, it should be feathered into the old paint if he can't get the whole car painted. Unless the painter is THAT DAMN good that he can make the two panels match.

I have a feeling this paint may be a little sketchy, but the car looks good with the new front. Is that a CRX in the background?

not really, because not everyone has gone to place even thought they wear or sport the apparel.

Re: :O

So you are only painting the front clip and you arent even removing any of the other parts? Sounds like a hackjob to me.

Re: :O

Am I the only one that thinks this car would look awsome in satin black or purple

Modding my j since I found the org
Re: :O
Tuesday, March 08, 2011 7:14 AM
^ that is purple.

I agree you should never paint panel by panel it will not match, might be close but it will always be just a bit off or worse. Are the zip ties coming off, or are they being painted?

Regardless I can't wait to see it all one color again.

Re: :O

Satin purple or a mix of both car is awsome either way just needs the interior done after paint

Re: :O

only my front end and trunk are being painted

and no it aint no hack job just cause its taped off at sections or at a house
im bearly starting chill guys everything is coming off also....

he already sprayed one of the fenders and geez looks the same in the sun
no feathering or nothing im not stupid i know my painters in town and they
do a pretty damn good job

Re: :O

I didn;t mean to insult you. Thats just typically not the way its done. The adjacent panel will be a different color for a lot of different reasons. One very common one is fading from the sun. I hope it turns out good. If your happy wih the way its being done, who cares what anybody else thinks. Overall, I really like the car. Good luck

People will look for anything wrong with your car. I guess I struggle with that.

I would make my same comment for any car. Just because a comment is made about his car or the process doesn't make it a specific or coach related issue. People need to realize this or don't post in a public forum looking for comments and feedback.

I didn't knock it for being painted at a house. I know a couple people who have been painting for years that have a setup in their garage and have done complete show cars including exotics and classics with a frame off on a rotisserie. All I said is you should not paint panel by panel unless they are all being painted at the same time. There will be difference, sometimes yes very subtle sometimes noticeable. I had a deer run in to my fender (literally into a stopped car) and had to get my entire front end repainted becuase of my ghost flames. The front bumper and doors were added in because the painted wouldn't be dead on. For silver it is usually yellowish hue related to the amount of clear. If you go down to the science its how the paint itself stands up on a microscopic level but that is out of my knowledge base and I'm sure someone on here would no. My point was that will not be a blend which is the 2nd best scenario next to painting the entire car.

My comment was then followed with me saying I can't wait to see it all one color. Again I don't know why you or Ecomark are taking things so personal, you definitely shouldn't and lastly it's your car do what you want. I know I've done plenty of things that people either hated or liked and I kept what I wanted...
