Dyno Day 2
Saturday, March 05, 2011 5:20 PM
Im taking the Z24 again now that I fixed my boost leak...they might tune it if the price is right

Well this time around I took the GTZ....everyone was impressed....of coarse cause its not a Honda (they kept comparing it to a honda) but I expected better. My friends stated that because its a mustang dyno the numbers are going to read lower. I think they are right cause the EVO only made 250 hp!

My best run was 146hp and 128tq (only mod is ron's header, bull@!#$ intake, and a solid mount.

No body does, its a cold hearted bitch lol I only put down 210 with my 5 series on one... only70 hp less the what stock 5 series put out to the wheel. And I watched a v10 5 series lay out 300 in m mode... it sucked.

What are the gtz's rated factory? 146 to the wheels is nice for a basically stock 4cylinder

its not that mustang dyno's read lower, its that all the other dyno's read higher. If I have my choice, im always going to dyno on a mustnang dyno. Its the true down to earth heartbreaker dyno. as long as the weights and brakes are set right then its not inflated numbers like dynojet numbers are.

I have a hard time believing a 19% drivetrain loss compared to stock crank HP numbers.

and what proof is there that shows it's the only right dyno? None. a Dyno Dynamics may be right, while others may be wrong. I have heard every manufacturer claim their dyno is the true dyno, IMO they are all wrong. Dyno on each kind and avg it up... there ya go

to op - def nice numbers!

A dyno is a tool.

Here we go again the Phil and Vincent show.

Little background on the engine.....LOTS OF MILES, Daily Driver, See's past 6500 rpm's every day I drive her Heck its a quad and the top power band is fun!

Ran with no oil for 16 miles (to work and back) Oil pressure sensor broke and I had to get home to fix it. Lifters started ticking down the street from home

So im sure the cylinder walls are a bit damaged.

This dyno was just for kicks. I might go to a place with a dyno jet and see the difference in numbers.

I have a spare LG0 on an engine stand awaiting me to begin the work. I got it down to the bare block and crank. Just need to buy parts and go from there.

On a good note I have a friend with an all motor LD9 cavalier (bolts on's and secret cams) and he dynoed 145hp on a "Jet" dyno so Im sure with an LG0 I will get better numbers on a jet dyno.

God I love my GTZ. Felt good when it was on the dyno and the guy popped the hood and everyone was shocked to see the nice engine bay and hear the car roar. All eyes were on her

you can run the same car on the same dyno 50 times and get 50 different numbers. like stated a above. its a tool. i like Phil's idea of dyno on both and average them together.

And the dyno report....I should have told them I raised the redline to 7000

fine ill reprhase.... Mustang dyno's dont inflate the numbers like the rest of dyno's

vince, although i do agree with you, ill bet 95% of the dyno runs documented in JBO history have been done with a dyno jet... its only right that we compare his numbers as such with them.

yeah 95% are dynojet numbers because its higher. same with other car forums, they all post dynojet numbers for the higher numbers.

Fine, I'll rephrase again, what PROOF is there that the MUSTANG dyno is the ONLY correct dyno? Whats to say another dyno is not actually the correct one?

Not true. Dynojet is probably the most used dyno therefore more people dyno on them. In my town we have 5 Dyno's (that I know of). 3 are Dynojets.

Well Said.

This is also quoted from another forum, I thought would make sense here.

NJHK wrote: Also the "Mustang Shows you lower numbers which are real" isn't necessarily true. I've seen on occasions Mustang Dynos show more than Dynojet. The thing is Dynos weren't necessarily meant as an exact measurement of power...their main tool is to help show increases and decreases while tuning. People are too literal when it comes to power numbers on dynos just cause one showed 5 more or 5 less doesn't necessarily mean anything. Its to give you a estimate figure.

and those that dyno on the other 2, do they post up dynojet numbers?

i guess id rather run on a dyno that can simulate load like its actually pulling the car, rather than free spin a drum.

welcome to the new ps3 vs xbox 360 debate, or any post phil posts in.

Brad if you haven't figured out yet, no one but Vince or any of Vince's circle of friends is ever right. I am beginning to learn that no matter how much you post anywhere, or who posts if you're not him, or his select "posse" you're just not right.

phil i actually agree with him about the mustang dyno... what i dont agree on is the assumption he has that everybody posts up dynojet numbers only for the glory.
