I got tired of the giant fiberglas parts
Friday, February 25, 2011 1:11 PM
So I swapped them out for stock Z24 parts. I think the car flows much better. Its not all one color anymore but it needs painted anyway the hood is all chipped up and the clear is coming off the roof and the trunk.
Before with the winter wheels and tires.

Now with the Z24 stuff and the 18" rims

I know it really needs lowered, that's on my list of things to do.

When I got the car it had a set of cheap Ebay "projector" headlights in it. I could park the car 2 feet from a wall and the low beams would put 2 spots about an inch round on the wall and the high beams weren't much better. they had been full of moisture and all the shiny stuff had peeled off so there wasn't and light reflecting out of them. I went to a auto parts place and bought a couple sets of driving lights and tore apart the old headlights and mounted these in the housings and fiberglassed some structure to hold them all together and give them some shape. People either like them or they hate them. I can see at night without blinding people so they work like they are supposed to.

I only have a couple pics of putting the lights together. They aren't done yet they need some body filler and sanded but they do what they do.

These are the best I have of them on the car. If you want a specific angle or anything I can go take more pics.

They're ugly, but props on making some custom headlights! Maybe when its all done and painted it'll look better!

I like it, the headlights are different, not sure I like them, but dont hate them either, meh, though with the monster emblem on the hood and the big driving lights the car looks very "rally" ish, it needs a bumper bar with some big ole PIAA's on it and some 14" rally wheels with thick winter meat to complete the look.

i think with a nice piece of shaped plastic over the headlights would do them justice

The headlights aren't for everyone I like them and that is all that really matters. I actually thought about making a plastic lens to go over everything but i couldn't figure out how I would do it. I would probably need to make a vacuum table and i have no idea what kind of plastic i would need. It could be done I'm sure but it would be complicated, but I agree It would give it a more finished look with the fiberglass smooth and painted to match the car with a nice lens over it. Maybe some day. I just finally got it running right, it pretty much always had a check engine light on but now it runs like new.

you can grab these and pull the lense off

once again kudos on doing your own work

how is the fitment on these anyway?? I'd love to use those lenses on the stock headlights, has it been done? Sorry to sorta threadjack here...

I don't think they will work on mine because of the size of my high beam lights they are too big so i would have to make some lenses, but i can't see why they wouldn't fit on your stock housings

You don't want to put clear lenses on your stock housings IMO, The reflectors should be different on the clear lenses to make up for the diffuser on the stock lights. It would have some scatter I think.

def odd, but creative. I'm undecided if I like them or not, but credit is due regardless

I've been wanting these housings for a while years even, if you remove or paint the reflectors and get some bids and aim them right you will be good to go.

AZNCAV - sell me that set today! It looks good lol

Wow, i really hate front end swaps on our cars. Looks tacky, even worse with those headlights. Kudos for doing something different though.

I think the Cav front flows better with the Sunfire rear. I don't know why but i have always liked the combination. Most people don't even notice the swap unless they are into cars.

Love the new wheels. And the fact it's a cavfire haha.
