So I sold my yellow LS Sport a few months ago to move here and since bought a white sedan which still needs a bit of TLC. The new owner of the car called my this morning and told me the bad news. Copied and pasted from another forum:
"So today i was driving thru Lake Orion, and stopped behind a car in front of me because they were stopped. Then a newer GMC Sierra came plowing into the back of my car doing 40mph+. My trunk is bowed in, my bumper is ruined, the metal support behind my bumper is bent in, among other various things. Now because i have plpd coverage my agent said theres nothing i can do, and that just doesnt seem right considering i'm not at fault in any way. Any info guys?
oh and btw (CAUTION MORE RANT)
the dick who hit me got out of his car as i did mine, i then asked if him and his passenger were alright, he said fine but didnt have the common courtesy to say sorry or ask if i was ok. I then call the police who took 30 minutes to get there, and then the FIRST thing they ask was "how long has the tint been on your windows" they made me pull out my tint script and then proceeding to tell me that my window tint may have been a factor in the accident, how that makes sense i have no idea considering i'm not the one who hit anyone.
on with pix i guess. These are the only two i have right now."

yep, sounds about right... cops more worried about tint than the imporant things.
If it takes forever.... I will die trying. Underdog Racing
This is why you should never have plpd on a car unless you can afford to replace it.
Sorry to hear about the car.....

Wouldnt the at-fault party have to pay? Why does it matter what coverage he had if it wasnt his fault.
Thats @!#$ty on the Sierra driver and cops part. I usually dont have a problem with cops but thats just stupid.
if that was 40+ that's amazing. The GMC's insurance will have to pay.
Rule #1 in driving, don't hit the car in front of you.

That is it, right there.
This dudes insurance will have to pay, i dont see why not.
& im just speechless on the tint deal, I bet if it was an old lady driving a cadillac with tinted windows not a word would have been said.
Saab Kit, GM Reflash, 10 psi
Damn kids and their tinted windows causing accidents. I mean if the Sierra driver couldve seen inside his car this wouldnt have happened.
MIchigan has no-fault insurance, so he's kind of screwed on that.

WTF kind of bull@!#$ is that. Remind me not to get in an accident in Michigan.
That's some bull. But for real its not that bad. Mine was waaaaaay worse. And it got fixed (ins totaled but my boy is the shiiii at bodywork and we fixed it.) And I call bs on the tint. Go get a donought piggy! Good luck
Wow. That really sucks man. I am blown away about the tint deal too that's insane.

That doesnt sound right.
Florida is a no fault state, when you are no fault by law if someone hits you from behind it is their fault even if you jammed on your brakes or somehow caused the car behind you to hit you.
Don't get me started on the whole tint thing. Cops just don't get it.
thas ok, call his insurance and they'll decide, not the cop
hmmm how about a ticket for following too close if thats the car that got rear ended. all that damage looks easily fixable, doesnt look like it got into the fenders at all.
also, that is one reason i have 100% full coverage... no ifs ands or buts about it. EVERYTHING is covered.
and final note, sucks to see but atleast you dont own the car anymore. so you dont have to worry about the accident.
if thats true on the no fault insureance that is bull@!#$ no one should have to pay or make their insureance pay for something some jack ass did. if it was me and they dont pay i would find me some big body pos with a full frame like a crown vice and find jack ass truck driver and no fault hit his ass!
Buy my stuff!!! CLICK
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten

Thats easy to say when you can afford it. Price out some full coverage for an 18 yo male. Hahaha.
Sorry to hear, looked like a nice car. I dont understand how the tint had anything to do with it. Its a yellow car! You could see that thing miles down the road
