Well, nothing impressive to be seen here. I'm just a new member, and I'm excited about all the new possibilies I've been learning about here. I wonder how many of you have your J-Body as your main car, and how many just have it as a fun 2nd (or 3rd) car to play around with. For me, I'm stuck with this car so I figure I might as well have as much fun with it as I can. I just found out about modding really. I didn't really know it was a do-it-yourself kind of thing.
My first car was a '98 Sunfire Convertible, red with a tan top. The only thing I ever did to the car was spray paint the top white because I couldn't stand tan. I didn't know how it was going to turn out, having not read anything online about doing it, but I think it turned out great.
I loved this car to pieces. (literally) I put down that top in rain, snow, shine...against anyone's better judgement. The top ripped and I didn't know you could buy a new one online at the time and actually fix it. I thought it would cost thousands of dollars, much more than I paid for the car. Eventually, due to going on long trips on not taking care of the car internally, in addition to rain and everything else getting in and making the car all mildewy, it finally died. But I never had more fun and adventures than I did with this car! So, I'm glad for my first car experience. I learned a lot.
Carlos the upside down Pokeball.
Automatic, power windows and locks, this car had everything I wanted!
Oh, I also did this with it...
Biggest regret about my new car? It's not a convertible.
Now I have a 2005 Cavalier base. Not a single option. Manual locks, manual windows, manual transmission, AM/FM. It's taken a little to get used to, but it's a good car.
When I first got it.
On a recent college graduate budget, I've tried to make it a little more pleasing to my eye. If you think it looks terrible, rest assured that I haven't spent much.
I've also done a little in the interior, getting friends to change my sterio and put those under seat LEDs in.
I was thinking one day, when/if I get rims (don't know how much it costs...how much do reasonable ones cost to change all four?) of getting white to match the stripes. So, I don't know.
Any suggestions?
i would have left it stock...that's my 2 cents though
Would you have left your car stock?
GM made a racing stripe kit for the 03-05s, I personally would've gone that route (minus the roof stripes to be more authentic Chevy rally stripes) but its your car. And woohoo for the vert! Too bad its gone, and did you spray paint that text onto the window too??

not a fan of the stripes, but it's ur car
Not a fan of the stripes, it has too much going on with the "racing" stripes, pins stripe & lower rear 1/4 stripes.
I don't like the pin stripes or the "sport coupe" thing, but it came with the car and I just never really considered removing it. I guess I could now, though. However, the corner stripe thing...I just feel that it needs to be there. When I see pics of black cavaliers that don't have it, they seem naked to me.
Despite all the nay saying, I really like my stripes. I wish I would have gotten thicker ones, but oh well.
Oh, the text on the window on the sunfire was just a stencil and car chalk, haha. I put on a lot of layers so it didn't come off at all in the rain, but it came off when I scrubbed it.
I work with a guy who has an '04 Cavalier power everything, and he said he'd sell me his rims because he's going to sell the car, so I have that settled.
I want a clean look to my car, but the only way I can happily do that is with rims and fog lights, which I don''t think would look good if I just added them in. Any one have any experience with that? I love how the fogs look on cars that have that feature.
if your goal is for a clean car you should get rid of all those stripes. just my opinion
Paint tails, or switch to a 3rd gen trunk.
Welcome to the forums. Sad face about the dead sunfire convertible.
Having a little fun on Photoshop.
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the '02- trunks. I noticed everyone hear likes to do a trunk swap if they have an 03+, but I like the lightbar. Well, everyone hates the stripes but they're here to stay for now. Maybe I'll take all the little pinstripes off, I don't really like them. And that little corner thing...I just feel naked without it. It's always been there!
Sadface indeed...I don't think I'll ever love a car more. RIP Carlos.
did she dent the door under her foot?
