2004 Cavalier

I finally borrowed my friends camera to get a couple pictures of what ive been working on recently.

This is my newer DD, obviously there are still things that need to be done (specifically: mount license plate correctly; and get my front bumper bow tie.)

But tomorrow it's going in for tint, Tein S tech's are on their way and I'm looking to swap my 98 z24 trunk and lights, then look for Toyo tails.

This car is going to stay pretty clean. (except in winter... )

Got balls?

Dang, don't tell me that's another home depot lip... I dig the ball though, I've kinda been wanting to put one on mine for small things here and there but idk if the car could handle it, lol. Other than that,

I actually like the lip... quite a bit. Garden Edging I'm guessing?
Plans sound good, now get them done and post up again!

thanks for the C&C!

it's actually a garage bottom door trim.

something like this

the grooved section is facing the bumper so the lip sticks out. the grooved section is solid, i had to notch it in the center and bend it so it wouldn't crack, and the lip itself is meant to be a seal so its flexible if you rub something.

worked out decent!

.. Of course this is only temporary until i find some LS Sport bumpers

So the tint is done!, and the car looks much better.

Dave, I got my HID's from DDM tuning, I would highly recommend them.

I got my conversion kit with the slim ballasts, and High / Lo Beam. There is a lifetime warranty on ballasts and all hardware. If you consider getting a set dont cheap out. Buy the "Slim" ballasts and get both High and Low beam, also get the relay wiring kit too, the whole kit was totally plug and play. You wont be disappointed.

If you have a 2000+ you will require a error code eliminator kit too.

The bulb type is 55w @ 10,000 Kelvin.

Here's their color chart.

I would rather invest my money into the engine first.

My block is at the machine shop getting tanked, they will be doing the .020" overbore as well once the Wiseco pistons come in.

Unfortunately the head from the previous motor has no potential, when the timing chain skipped, the valves hamburgered the seats and combustion chamber.

So, I ordered a "good" used head from All Around Auto. I get it nicely packaged, open the box and see a gaping crack in the head. They claim they head was not like that but there was no visible damage to the head or the packaging.

So now i still have to find a good core to build. and I'm down $300.

So i tried the ECU relocate everyone seems to be doing.

I made a tutorial for those how don't know how to do this.

RELOCATE!
...

Here's how it began.

Disconnect the battery!

First we have to take the wiper arms off.. Next, we have to disconnect the washer hose.

These trim fasteners are the best. Just pull up the center, and pull the fastener out.

Take off this piece of trim.

Were going to stuff that ecu up there on the passenger side.

loosen the two clamps securing the intake pipe, then remove the pipe.

Take out the battery.

Lift the fuse block.

Pull the air box out.

That's the grommet we will feed the harness through.

Remove this plug.

Loosen the two nuts securing the bracket.

Remove the black plug.

Remove the ecu from the bracket.

Now we have to route the harness through the firewall.

Move this outa the way.

Pull out the grommet.

... OOPS! ... the plug wont fit!?!

....HMMM.... *scratches*

Remove the top half of the plugs casing like this.

Insert a small flat head like this to pull out the lever one side at a time.

TADA!!

Remove the casing and lever on both plugs and strip off the loom.

...Easy... Easy....

Feed the plugs into the firewall.

re loom wire up to the grommet, then install grommet to firewall. Then re loom ecu harness in firewall.

I decided to tap the holes on the ecu that were used for the dowel pins on the bracket. (m8 works perfectly, No drilling required)

Measured three times, drilled once.(5/16" Drill) Holes are exactly 3 1/8" from center to center, and 3/4" back from the lip of the sheet metal. And Always Center Punch.

Locktite!

Properly secure ECU harness to existing wiper motor harness and check for clearance with wiper motor arm rotation. Once harness is secured properly, everything can be reassembled.

Done!

I think this is how it should have been done from factory, and as you can see water will not be able to leak into the ECU.
