so after doing my first idi cover, i wanted to to another. its so much fun lol. so i went to a local pick-n-pull yard and pulled 2 quad4 idi covers. i dont have a before pic, but they were pretty ratty and beat up. so here is a pic of the idi's after i sanded and stuff for about a half an hour.

i plan to paint these tomorrow.cant tape off anything yet cuz well, i dont have any masking tape. lol.
i will be doing many more of these in the future.

Well I got it for free,so I didnt have to go spend money on one at the yard.Im planning on getting my original one dipped in chrome or powdercoated.What colors do you plan to use on yours?

i think i might do both in indigo blue (gloss). i already have a 2.4 idi cover that has polished ridges and lettering with black gloss.

I'll see ya this week, Im off new years then have 2 days after that to recover hah. Christmas is over so work will be slowing down alot, hours gettin cut for a few weeks.
I actualy need to touch up my wheels a bit, got tires put on and they put new weights on which dont match lol.

newp, i only have 6 stock 2.4's, one rk sport polished 2.4, one rk sport polished 2.4 with powdercoated black base, the w41, 2 HO's, 3 regular quad's and a partridge in a pair tree.

um.... That is one Rare W41 IDI....
unless someone painted it... that was a replacement part from GM back in the day, not the one that came on a car..
All the ones that came on a car were red...... that looks to be the same color as the LO 2.3 covers were....
(i do lots of reading at work...GM Catalogs FTW)
It would look nice on my W41.... but it can go topless i guess.

couldnt it have also been sand blasted to remove the red finish? it does look pretty rough
