While searching for a new job, I’ve had plenty of time to finally play with all the parts I’ve had sitting around. I’ve been back and forth between my place in Harrisburg and my mom’s place in Pittsburgh trying to find a decent job. Clearly no one needs an accountant in either of those areas lol.
I’ve come to a crossroads of sorts. I’ve got a few decisions to make and I’d like some input from other members. This all goes back to my inability to keep the car looking one way for an extended period of time. I constantly feel the need to change things because I can’t seem to find that perfect look.
I’ve had my 96-99 Toyos on this car for about 2 years now and they were on my old 97 cav for many years before that. I’ve had about 4 sets of 00 Toyos pass through here in the last month or so and I decided to keep a set. I’m on the fence about how they look, probably because I’m so accustomed to seeing the 96-99s when I look at my car.
I think it’s the red trim that looks out of place on those tails. There’s no way that I’d paint the trim, because I personally think that makes them look cheap and I’ve already photoshopped those options and they look like crap anyway.
The next conundrum is the front lip. The wtype lines up pretty well from the side, but from the front, it’s just too round to really look good with the IF sides. The sides and rear are staying and I’m not planning on changing those. The LS lip has more of the “straight” design like the skirts, but it’s not really low enough. I’m kicking myself for selling the IF front. I should have kept it and copied Chad’s (now Steve’s I believe) IF front lip. Since I have some free time I’ve been tempted to make a fiberglass copy of the stock lip and then do whatever the hell needs to be done to make it look good with everything else. At this point, I really think the wtype lip is going to end up in the classifieds and I’ll just keep the stock LS lip. Decisions Decisions. That’s where you guys/gals come in. Your outside opinions might be able to spot something or come up with a new idea that I might not have considered. I’ve already considered hacking up the wtype lip and changing it to fit my needs, but I’m really not in the mood to hack up a $250 lip.

either way you go, its gonna look good...but if it were my car, i would probably pick the 96-99 toyos and the ls lip.

Now the w-lip, Im kicking myself daily for getting rid of it I think it looks really good on the car. But the stock one looks really nice with the IF sides. However if you decide to sell it let me know

yep, those are the ones that i bought from you. about a week after i got those from you i had a friend who was parting out his car offer me another set of those so i grabbed them. ended up selling that set to a local kid for $250. all profit there lol. the kid wanted the mad tyte jdm goodness lol.
i'll be keeping both sets of the toyos, so i'll probably swap them around monthly depending what sort of mood i'm in. the 96-99 toyos are starting are almost as common as altezzas these days and that's one reason why I'm leaning towards the 00s. 5 years ago when I first got those toyos they weren't very common, now you see them everywhere. the wtype lip is currently in the garage waiting for me to get off my ass and repaint it. random snow storms and chunks of ice ftl
i'll probably end up flipping a coin to decide on the front lip

haha. i have it now. and it will be w/ IF sides too. the LS lip is too thin. i like the 00+ toyos better w/ silver.

if you won't paint the trim on the 00's i'd stick with the 96-99 toyo's.

id say wings west lip, and earlier toyos. Also though you should take off your side moldings and it would look a little cleaner because it seems that the theme that you are trying to keep.
i agree with shaving the moldings. i think you should make a fiberglass copy of the ls lip and lengthen it a lil bit to make it work better with the if sides. i agree that the wtype just doesn't quite flow right with them. as far as the toyos, i like them both so i don't even know what to tell you on that. hopefully 1 set will eventually grow on you.

LS sport front lip FTW 96-99 toyo look better than the 00+ IMO especially if they are unpainted.

i think the 00 toyo's look sexier on your car because of the silver. and i too am sick of seeing the 96-99 toyo's everywhere, the 00's look more classy but they gotta be on the right color car and right year to look correct. silver is perfect IMO.
i think the IF front matches the IF sides the best... but i love the w-type front all the same, but i think your right-it doesn't look good with the IF sides. this i am unsure on, it's definitely your call.
i honestly dont like the 03-05 lss rear either, for some reason it doesn't match up with the IF sides as well as i've seen on other car's, maybe it's the color...
maybe you could go 03-05 lss sides and stick with the 03-05 lss rear and also stick with the w-type front. that might look pretty good as there are a lot of cars w/ kits that have an odd shaped lip as compared to the rest of the pieces, i think having a different style on the front is good.

i'd say ls sport side skirts (i realize that wasn't one of the options you listed)... the rear bumper lip is rounded and the w-type lip is also rounded. the flat skirts are what doesn't match, not the w-type lip.
as for the tails... i prefer the look of the 95-99's but they aren't common up in williamsport so...
what about the 00-02 outers and the 95-99 inners... I definitely like the 00-02 better on your car, but the only way to match the 2 years would be to paint the outers black over the burgundy red, since the 95-99s have that naturally. Although I know you said you didn't want to paint them. Just a thought.
i like the 95-99 tails better just because im not a fan of having faded red or pink tail lights. which ever way you look at it. id also say black to go with the cf hood and the silver. i also agree on removing side mouldings. and a shorter antennae. as for the lip. why not go custom? if you were talking about making a mold of one, why not make a custom one.

once the weather warms up, the plan is to make a copy of the ls lip and make it longer and it a little bit flatter, much like the bottom of the IF front bumper. I'll probably toss the wtype lip back on the car here in the next day or so, just so there's something on the front end while the ls lip is in the garage. Maybe it will change my mind, maybe it won't. I should have just left the exterior alone.
as for the side moldings, they'll be staying on the car as long as it's my DD. they've saved my doors enough to have earned their keep.
My 2 cents ... Go with the 00+ toyos (driver side in photo), and stick with the WW Lip. The LS one looks to small to flow with the IF sides & WW Rear. Just my 2 cents.

But Ive always loved the 96-99 toyos on your car, but the way your car is without the darker wheels and all I like the look of the 00+ tails. And I say definitely keep the w type lip, the ls lip looks too small for the if sides. Maybe throw the ls sides on and see how they look?
