Things are starting to come together now and it's only a matter of time before I can hit the track again. Goal this year is to be able to drive the car to the track, run in the 10's somewhere and then drive the car home, no trailer. In addition to using it as my daily driver throughout the summer. I really am not doing to much to the car this year, just refining what I already have, adding a few things and of course increasing the boost.
Since last year my biggest issus was traction at the track I knew something would have to be done. I am stepping up to a M/T 26x10x15 slick mounted on a set of Weld Racing drag wheels (15"x9"), they only weigh 11lbs each.
To make the taller slicks fit without interferring with the suspensinon I decided that it was time to swap out the old KYB's and sprint springs for a full set of Tein Super Street coil-overs. At the track I will be swapping out the springs in the back that came with the kit for a set of 1000lbs springs to keep the rear end under control during launch and between shifts. I am still waiting on the wheels but they should be in within a few weeks. With the larger slicks it should also allow me to trap around 134-136MPH in 4th gear.
As for the engine I am not touching it this year, it was fully built last year and now that it has 4000kms on it it's time to start pushing it to it's potential. Last year I did have some problems with the rear manifold blowing out gaskets so this year I am V-Banding both manifolds to the crossover pipe so I won't have those issues. I also had some issues with oil from the breather filter on the vave cover spewing oil. This year I am getting rid of that and going with braided lines from both valve covers, to a catch can and then from the catch can down to the exhaust with a check valve to act as scvanging for the PCV system, it should work pretty good.
I still haven't decided yet if I am going to up the boost before the first day at the track or after. I am kind of leaning towards after the first track weekend to see what kind of improvments the new suspension, slicks and wheels make. After that it will be off to the dyno to up the boost. Power wise the goal this year is 650whp and 600wtq which should get me down the track and into the 10's without too much trouble as long as I can drive it.
I also picked up the speed cut controller for my Greddy boost controller. This will allow me to run low boost (about 15psi) off the line and through the first 3 gears then once 4th gear hits the boost goes up to about 28psi (depending on what the final numbers are once everything is retuned). Now that could change with the higher boost coming in halfway through 3rd gear but I really can't say till I get a few passes with it and figure out the best time.
Since I want to be running much faster this year a roll bar is mandatory. I ordered a prebend roll bar from S&W racecars and I almost have everything installed. I am just waiting for another swing out bar kit (had two but lost one somehow). With the swing out bars I can remove the side bars for everyday driving and then put them back in for track days. I also added a new set of seats, I wanted to go with a set of Sparco Milano 2's but it was just not in the budget this year. Instead I picked up a cheap set of Racespec seats to get me through this year. I will also be running a set of Sparco 4 point harnesses with a cam lock buckle, those should be here in the next few weeks.
I think that is about it as far as changes go this year, the season is almost here and I can't wait. RIght now the engine is out of the car and on a stand. I am just waiting for my clutch to come back from Bully (sent it off to them to be rebuilt so I am sure I will have no clutch issues over the entire summer). The clutch should be in this week and hopefully next weekend I can get the engine back in the hole and start bolting things back in. Since this is the Photo's and Media section here are some pics of the newest work to the car. I will post up some more updates once things start to move along.

There are so many shows and events this year I really have no idea. I think I will decide about that one a few days before. The only race event out of province planned for sure is the world street car challange at Maramichi in Aug. I plan to do my first run, get eliminated, park the car and then get drunk for the weekend.

Good luck man, i really hope you meet your goal this year. Your car is one of my favorite J's other than that body kit.

My brother runs a w-body s/c with about 15psi. It runs mid-low 13's (other supporting mods of course).
I cant IMAGINE what it will feel like to push 15 or 28 with a turbo on that motor. MY GOD.
I can't wait to see/hear it.
Make sure to get some video of it when its running.
Good luck!
Lookin good as always
