look closely at the casting numbers on the head and its mated to the 086, maybe its better than the other tube style intake mani?
I found one in a junkyard and almost bought it. I thought it would look tits powdercoated and might work well on a boosted engine. I did not get it because I was unsure if the ports were the same and if it would bolt up and then the compatibililty of sensors and the like.

this is a rare Quad 4 intake given to me from a GM engineer. the engineer was part of GM's racing R&D program. I have no flow numbers on it, I can not say if it out flows the HO intake, but is a true equal length runner and may be more suited for the 2.4 intake swap VS the HO log style intake.
Looks pretty good. It would need the adapter flange used for the HO mani swap correct?
I see those all the time at the yard here.. I never bought one because its pretty ugly imo lol.

i know what motor that came off of and thats not a HO/W41/W40 intake thats a SOHC Quad intake.the HO intakes have better flow then that one.
i have a zero mile one of those in my closet
It looks crazy, but many have compared it to the regular old ho manifold and say it sucks. Its cool looking and would look good powdercoated, but I wouldnt waste the time on it. I dont even know what would be needed to adapt it.
the side drift style on the HO'S looks way better but thats my 2 cents
more than likely this is the one most of ya'll have been seeing at the junkyard.
notice the difference?
that is the worst flowing manifold you can get...

Yeah you are righ That is the one I was reffering to. I did not realize the difference because it has been awhile since I saw it.

Looks more like an old school tube header :p
wow...they ARE different...hmm, I never knew there was 2 different styles of the earlier header-type intakes
yeah ive seen the type posted by dayton 86 before and i know they are not good ones to swap. but the one i posted is completely different. and i figured that since GM put some money into the older 2.3 quads for racing back in the day that this might be a left over from one of their racing projects. in the ebay ad the person does say it was given to them by a GM r&d engineer. i thought id toss it up here to see if anyone had anymore info on it. i think its cheap enough for someone to take a risk on and try out....they might just get a rare jewel that works well.
shadowfire: that would be my guess. i mean that is what we need right now to swap the HO mani used on the 086 head (which is what this thing is on) so it would only make sense that you could swap this thing in the same fashion as the regular HO mani.
IMO if it flowed as well as any other mani out there i think it would be a nice piece for under the hood. a nice little turbo would compliment it well
