Lookin Back

Well, since everyone seems to be doing this lately..
Heres a look at how our car has progressed in the last 3 years since we've decided to mod it.

Like everyone seems to start out, RICE.. god I miss my oem mirrors..

Then one day i decided to shave my emblems finally.
After seeing how it looked without the gaudy stick on symbols it dawned on me that i definately needed to keep the car as clean as possible while still modding it my way.

Then I decided to go with some 95-99 Tails because I felt they looked better than the 00-02 style

Then she went under the knife

Bye bye spoiler...

And now the kit goes on

douchebag didnt even paint my door handles like i had told him 500 times, nor 100% of my mirrors and other stupid ass things he did wrong... *going away to school to learn to paint cars FTMFW

And finally after bringing the thing back twice we gave up bugging and decided that I'd fix everything else at school this year.. so here's how it looks right now

were gonna look into getting the rear bumper sag fixed in april and i'm gonna do my best to switch back to oem mirrors and find some rims...

and thats about it, C&C welcome

Thanks, I have this idea to get some 00-02 toyo outers and shave my inners and move my reverse lights to the clear part of the toyos and keep the brake lights where it should be, also i'm gonna order some black housing headlights and corners in march then start the hunt for rims

WHEELS FIRST WHEELS FIRST

Yes, it's my REAL car. No, it is NOT photoshopped or "this is how my car will look someday". It's the REAL DEAL.

nice progression there.

just curious....why did he spray the kit on the car?

Re: Lookin Back

^^^ thats exactly what i was thinking, because if he did that then he didnt paint the edges on the entire kit!

Joey, If I knew why, I'd tell you, the whole job was definately a ripoff.. Thats why I'm glad to be going to school in september, I'll fix it properly and things will be alright. But you'd think for the 2500$ it cost us he'd of done a better job..

Luis, theres more than the edges not painted, basically anything that required him to point the gun upwards isn't painted, or painted very poorly, but all in all I'm just glad it's all one color when you look at it, I'd rather that than a bunch of primered pieces.

And Kevin, I'm doing my best to find the 1100$ for the wheels i want but it's not going all to well, I have like 20,000$ to save for school on top of what little I can put into the car. So I'm hoping to have wheels this year, but if not theres nothing much I can do.. know what I mean?

^^thats cool. good luck with school!

did the panels(QP and skirt) become "molded" from paint overlap? That happened to a freind of mine and when they went to pull a skirt off, they jacked the entire QP's paint up.

my guess to why he painted it on the car would be to color match if it didnt match perfectly to the car. he could blend up the fenders alittle ways to make it look like it matchs better. nice looking car and good progression. ill be watching the progress for sure

^^^ya but it appears he sprayed the entire car, so that shouldnt be an issue.

well if thats the case why didnt he mask the door handles? wouldnt there be massive over spray on them? and why is he using a suction feed gun? garbage lol

edit: forgot to add I think it looks like he just clear the whole thing. not repainted the whole thing.

I hate the cost of paint jobs... which makes me dreading mine. Hopefully it will be down quite a bit from the $6k they wanted last summer when i prep the car myself...

Looking good tho buddy.

That was for stock Arctic white and not painting CF fenders or hood. Most of that cost was for repairing corrosion/ rust in the bottom of the door seams, and behind the rear bumper and gas filler. Its just surface corrosion right now so it shouldn't have been a big deal to do, but apparently to them it was. I'm striping the car and just going to give it to them in pieces and i will reassemble everything. Or however they want it to make it cost less.

I have no idea, i still need to sand blast the undercarriage, subframe and trailing arm before it gets anywhere...

Joey, what he did was used seam sealer before he painted the car, plus the skirts are "half-molded" he fg'd the portion that goes under the door to the car because the skirts were miles from cut in a straight line, so the skirts wont be coming off the car easy by any means, i'll do my best to get some new pics of it next time i'm out to check on the car so you can get an idea of it.

Night Rider, he did mask the door handles and the whole car was repainted not just re cleared, as far as i know, the pics of him painting it are the only time i saw anything being sprayed so hell if i know, also i'm assuming hvlp guns are where it's at? cuz i just bought 3 of em to practice with for school, so i'm hoping i got the good type of gun

Cody, thanks man, hey do you remember me from posting on automotive forums? my user was like lil devil or some @!#$ like that
