Trunk setup installed
Monday, November 05, 2007 11:02 AM
Well, for the past few days I've been working on completing a trunk install finally!

It is for the most part completed now, a little touching up here and there, but I can almost cross this off of my to do list finally!!!

a few things:

Yes I need to clean it out now, it got a little dirty while installing eveything.
I need to put on the rubber guarding along the trunk edges still.
I need a new fitting to close off the top of the tank (I've just been using this long piece for a few months...it's just out of place lol).
The compressors need a good cleaning, and the stickers will be removed as well.
I still need to paint the plastic cover that goes on top of the carpet at the back where the trunk latch is.

but...for the most part, it's finally done.

The dark grey color you see is suede, and yup...I decided to make the 3 walls in the back mirrors. Cutting up the mirrors with a glass cutter was pretty tricky. After a while I got the hang of it. The hardest part was cutting out a hole in the mirror for the wires and hosing to go through from the compressors. I broke 2 mirrors trying to cut it out . Not a huge deal, they were at Home Depot for $6.00 a mirror at least

Here are some pics.

I was thinking of just doing a quick setup for the show in 2 weeks, and then ripping it out and doing a fiberglass job inside...however I really like the clean look it has, so I don't think fiberglass will be going into this trunk anymore now.

questions and comments always welcomed.

that is awesome.

I think the larger middle piece needs to be etched or whatever with some blue LED's to say "Big Poppa" or something like that.

IDK i think its too settle... The inside of the car is glassed to no end but the trunk is suede? I think Judges will look at that the wrong way Vince, I like the look dont get me wrong, but from a judges stand point they may look at the rest of the car and not understand why one section is suede and everything else glassed. But if you do keep that look paint the compressors and tank blue and add some suede to the interior of the car so it ties in together. And yes Im going up there to steal your car too just give you a lil warning lol

thanks guys.

Yeah I know the inside is glassed, then the trunk is wrapped, but I have no time to glass a trunk, sand it smooth and paint it within 2 weeks time. To me right now, it doesn't matter all too much. My concern was having a trunk set up, instead of keeping my trunk closed at the show and I couldn't be happier right now.

yup, I sure do. I still need to finish it off, but it's pretty much finished.

^ don't mind the wires right now.

i like it vince but don't think it fits your car. everything else, interior, exterior everything is flowing and curvy and then the trunk is just flat and angles it doesnt go with your car. i think it looks good but as for a judging aspect of it, it doesnt match with everything else. me personally i like what you have i'd just take it a step further, fiberglass the opening around the tank so it slopes down and surrounds the tank closer. more curvy. same goes for up around the trunk hinges. you can make it curvy and still wrap it in suede like you have it. that way it will still be clean but have more curves to it to match the rest of your car.

i could not imagine what would happen to your car if you dropped it one good time hard on somthing.... but whats the worst that would happen? you rebuild it better than ever? but your car is one of the few out there that i envy.....

when the hell are you ever gonna get around to posting up some high rez pictures of your car. i remember a bunch of people including my self requesting right after you got it painted the first time, but you never came through. any luck on the second time around????

I love the trunk! Smooth, classy and clean
As many have said, I dont think the suede goes with the car at all. I LOVE the suede though! I think you should incorporate a little suede into the interior and you'll be set!

I have to agree with this it is a nice setup just not in your car tho it doesnt mesh.
