A few GTC updates (more to come tommarow)

Well you can't fix what isn't broken.... so if not broken mod it

Typically I drag ass on everything, I work on cars for a living so I'm usually not motivated to work on my own but I decieded screw it I want to get some of the boxes out of my house LOL so I went to work.

the projects... removing A/C condenser, lines, compressor, basically everythign A/C related under the hood. remove alturnator and install the new pulley, figure out a belt to run with having nothign but the the crank pulley and alturnator, remove the washer fluid pump and resovior and install the griffin radiator. I was thinking it would be a decent sized project... not so much LOL. It took less then half an hour to hace the radiator out of the car... I literally spent as much time removing it as I did trying to get the god damn connector off the colling fan LOL. Its insanely simple to do a radiator on a J-body, removing the A/c lines and compressor was another 15 minuets or so and the alturnnator pulley was as simple as unbolting the pier wire, unpluging the harness from it, and 3 bolts to take it out and about 1/2 a secon with an impact to swap pulleys haha.

Anyways on with pics.... I didn't take any pics till I was done for the night, the temp dropped like mad in the matter of minuets and there was a severe weather alert for temps below freezing with high winds so that cut my progress short not long after dark which sucks casue I was flying through the project and I had to stop while still motivated.

ok pics for real now...

Taken apart

no alturnator of A/C compressor

washer fluid resovior removed

no a/c

it just fell out

stock radiator with the fan still attached... btw this is the first time I've seen an eco radiator out of the car... absolutely pathetic, the core is like maybe half an inch thick.

the alturnator pulley with the A4 hard coating from the GP installed next to stock pulley... I have this little scale laying around from way back in the day... I'm not sure how acurate it is but stock vs. he new pulley... the stock pulley was right around 5 times the weight of the new one... which stil isn't a whole lot of weight put considerin the size of it vs. the crank pulley, I wouldn't be suprised if the alturnator in my car hit 15K rpm, at hat speeds that huge percent of weight lose starts to count hahah

I don't even know why I took this pic... random @!#$

and heres some advise for people.... the little hose that goes here..

pull it off and stick on there when draining the radiator, the drain goes right into the crossmember up front adn makes a big @!#$in mess, take the little piece of hose off and you can aim it right around the cross member straigt into a drain bucket without spilling a drop. saves you from a big mess

and a turbo in a bucket for good measure LOL

Check back tomorrow for more pics/updates

-and for you tree huggers.... I took the car to work and sucked down the A/C system, I didn't just pull the line and vent the refrigerent in the atmosphere to float up and eat the o-zone

when i replaced the heater core in my dodge I let the A/C vent into the atmosphere, now I have my own little personal hole in the o-zone layer.....

Well I got coolant some brake clean and a belt... I searched till I found a part number on here which was Napa 25-050335 but just in case since i have a spare motor on a stand I measured and found I wanted a 35" belt. So I went to Napa and got the 25-050335 belt only to find it was just a little to small, I could not get it on for life of me. So I took it back and asked them to find a 35".... they found me a 35 1/4" belt part number Napa 25-050345 and that worked perfect with the A/C removal plus it only cost like $10.

Alright todays pics....

Pics of stock compared to Griffin

Difference in the size of the core.

Here is the only real problem I have with the radiator... the stock radiator has the petcock (yes thats what its called) drain... the Griffin has a threaded hole...... AND NOTHING TO PLUG IT. Its all installed everythign is finished but I can't put an coolant in it and drive it till I get a hole of Griffin to get what I need for a drain plug.

heres stock radiator with condensor (silver cav)

heres the griffin installed (tan cav)

Measuring the stock core

measuring the Griffin Core

All done (except for coolant)
