Z Rims refinished

these rims came off of the 2nd gen parts car i used for the 3400 swap they had some curb rash and all chipped up so figured i'll refinish them

before:

just getting started

sanded



cleaned up the surface for the new tires to seal on


in primer


finished

might put them on for a bit in the summer, mostly going to be for after nice weather is gone and when there is snow in the winter.
one of the rims was messed up so i fixed it and didnt want it to look like an odd ball to the rest of the wheels so did em all next is to get tires for em

I just did that to my Z rims, but I did mine in gold for my white car. I can't wait to take the car out when I put the timing cover back on. Looks good. I hope that you are not going to put weights on the outside now.

Just curious as to what you used and how you did it?

My little brother has been on my case to repaint the original Z24 rims I have gunmetal black. After seeing your rims, I see why he's so persistent.

Any specialty tools you had to buy? Specific chemicals/ paints that you highly recommend?

Hey those are the same color as mine, cept yours are 100's better, i never took the tires off when i did everything, now you've made me want to redo them! looks really good =D

painted them charcoal granite using base/clear not spray bombs
1 - sanded with 220
2 - primed
3 - sanded 400
4 - painted
5 - clear coat

you'll need
paint (maybe a pint or so)
basecoat reducer & activator
clearcoat & clearcoat activator

I might put some up after the car gets out of the garage, but right now the timing cover is still off the engine. Might be a week or two.
