2000 Cavy Engine rework..........
Friday, April 20, 2007 1:32 PM
I first bought my 2000 Cavy around 2 1/2 months ago, after I totalled my '04 Cavy. The car was a good starting point for what I wanted, but needed to be reworked. I just wanted to show ya some progress pics. The difference is awesome! PnP Performance & Tuning (Ryan-Imphat0260) and High Tuned Performance (Matt), both in Arnold, Mo (South of STL) have done an awesome job on my car! I can't thank them enough! Custom fabricated manifold, downpipe, chargepipes (hot & cold), exhaust and intercooler. Here goes!

BEFORE

.........At least the engine looked really clean. It only had 15k miles on it when it was installed, just before I bought it.

...here's a look at the fuel rail, newly added fuel pressure gauge and LT-1 Regulator.

.......Lookin' a lot better after Ryan got the rat's nest of wiring out and cleaned up the valve cover.

..........And some pics I got from Matt yesterday!

I went and looked at it today and man does it look good. It should be back in Ryan's hands on Wednesday, and with any luck, I will be able to take it on the Lambert's cruise that we have planned for next Sunday. I'll post the final product after it's done!

Wait....did you say clean? What pictures did I miss? The only clean thing I see in those pictures are a few charge pipes, a valve cover, and the new fuel rail & guage. lol.

Yep, ur right! It was originally Jason's car. I bought it from Donald about 2 1/2 months ago. I'm hoping to do it justice. I hope to start showing next season. Still gotta do some interior work, etc. But I love the car. It has been getting worked on longer than I have driven it, lol! It will all payoff though! Can't wait to get her back on the road!

Il have a full list of new specs once I get it back and tuned. I know what Jason did and had originally too.. I personally think that the car has/had a lot of potential, but the old setup was crap compared to what we are doing to it now. When Tom bought the car, I drove it home from INDY.. The whole way home I was monitoring and datalogging. I started seeing "issues" and made a list in my head of how I would build it. The plan was to do it on a budget with top quality craftmanship. I have a feeling that Tom's car will be getting my Super 60 and really waking up sometime in the near future. I just need to finish my other build for mine(thats another story/will be a while before done)... This budget started to get bigger and I decided that most if not all of the old setup needed to go. Emanage, mani,DP,full exhaust, and DSM sidemount have all been ripped off and have been all custom made. Jason told me the best time and HP he got out of the car. He also told me that he was glad I was building it so he could finally see the full potential.. Im going to keep it kinda mild as this will be a DD for a while, and the auto trans is the weakest link. Il keep you guys updated as soon as I get more to share.....

Well, Ryan got my car back on Tuesday from HTP and I am heading over to his house this morning to help finish off some minor details. After that, he's gonna put a HPTune on her, and time to cruise her home! I will take some pics and post them tonight!
