So today I decided to tackle that sagging bumper issue ive had for a while by going to lowes and picking up a couple L Brackets and a 2.5" strap of aluminum and getting to work
Here we are in the lowes parking lot getting ready to get materials
So afterwards we head to Bens garage and start by taking off the rear bumper ( obviously ) and also the exsisting crushgaurd ( I didnt have one lol ) and we took the L brackets and mounted them in the four locations that needed the most support and evenly spaced, then we took the metal and cut it to fit across each section and screwed it down and countersunk the screws so they would be completely flat. Also, we bent the brackets in a vice so the sharp edges wouldnt cut the kit. Here are some pics of the progress.
and we did the same to the other side.
When we reinstalled the bumper it fixed the problem completely, I recommentd this to any who is having sagging issues with their kit.
Heres what it looked like this morning..
Heres what it looks like now
..
Feedback welcome as usual ..
Also, the muffler will be fixed tomorrow, so the whole back half will finally look good for once

Good job. I can't believe that is such a problem with that bumper. Amazing how so many have to make a bracket.

They're 8's. Carpet that damn box! Rear looks good though.
haha.. im working on it, one project at a time..
Ill do that when I finish up the audio phase, the only reason I have the subs is becuase I got such a good deal on them so I got them.. so they are surrounded by crappy amps and underpowered highs
.. soon tho

That looks soo much better!!
That car is comming along nicely. Can't wait to see it painted.
The only thing I don't really like is the muffler, I just don't think it flows with the rest of the car. Just my .02.
I gotta keep this post in mind for when i get my j kit, just in case
wow jeff. looks as if you got a belt!!! LOL
looks real nice buddy!!!!

good job jeff, rehang muffler and u gotta get ur springs next now
btw u should try gettin off work at 3 on the 24th..
hmm.... i wonder if i should redo my bumper now that i see how you did yours. I don't have a terrible sag, but i do have clearance between the trunk and bumper..
tempting... but i absolutely hate remove the rear bumper. its a royal pain in the @!#$ ass... maybe i'll just make the paint place who's going to do my car figure something out.

I had fixed mine, though I've already gotten rid of it.
I used a thin steel strip with the holes in it, and used Duraglass to bond it to the underside and clamped it until cured. Held awesome! Even after flexxing it.
Personally the route I'd go.
I made a thread with other pics and with the exhaust fixed

hey before you get it painted I would line up the side moldings with your side skirts better. Currently in both pictures the passenger side is crooked and doesnt line up that well. That way you dont get someone painting the car and when you remove it to fix it have a goofy unpainted spot if they dont remove the moldings
^theyd come off anyway when u repaint.. and he knows this
yeah, I will have the kit painted off the car and when we install them we will do it right, they guy that primed it just kinda slapped thehe m on and they are crooked and they are coming off, but me and the guy with the silver cav in the pics will do them like his.. thats for the advice tho

Yup, two of the hardest hittin 6's in the world!
But for real they keep up just fine with just about any pair of 10's or 12's in a sealed box within the same power range. I would always let people hear them before I showed them it was only 2 8's.
BTW I never noticed this, but keeping the 2k+ crushguard and trimming it prevents sagging too

My post was regarding the notorious Type-J wave along the thin urethane there.
^^i cant wait for the paint!!!!!!!!!.....sexy side skirts on the way...
