new engine swap update.
Saturday, February 03, 2007 8:48 PM
well first off i got my airride tank painted and installed back in the car. it helps out the trunk allot i think. im going to do some changing up of the setup later this spring when i get time, still not happy with the setup but at least the tank helps some.

now onto todays fun. had some friends come out and help me take the next step in the engine and actually get it back into the car. day started out running out and searching for a radiater wich we didnt find. so i still need to dig one of those up. we got back and I had hoped to start early getting the garage warmed up (was 10 deg. today) and getting the rack and pinioin in. well we come home to no electricity, and took about two hours for them to fix whatever killed the power. we had some difficulties sliding the motor in esp with how we had the motor chained up and esp with having to watch the paint so going in was pretty slow. but we managed to get it in with out any major damage. got the motor secured and did some of the plumbing. still have allot to do but its at least progressing.

notice how cockeyed we had the motor lol

and heres how she sits as of now.

polished alternator and polished throttle body

thats it for now i'll start plumbing the rest up soon as i dig up a radiator, then i'll throw in the wiring and get the thing started just to make sure the engine is good, then im going to pull the wiring back off and redo it.

looks good. although i must say, valve cover would look a little better silver with flames and maybe a different color bushing in your TTR mount maybe? that red looks sorely out of place. black or blue would look much better. Amazing none the less.

dood you need to get rid of that plastic crap, find someone to weld you up a sheet metal manifold. Im sure you know a good welder, there mad easy to make if you know what your doing.

The car is beautiful, except for that hidues plastic. Its just looks so out of place.

good work

Looks flaming crazy!

I kinda agree about the valve cover. It looks hidden like that to flow with everything! Just like the battery and coolant resevior is hidden! Looks good! but if its polished, its gonna look even better IMO.

Keep up creativity and the good work!

Im glad you got the engine in jason, sorry i couldnt make it but i didnt wanna risk 50mph winds and whiteouts all over 35 and 31.. once i heard there were 8 accidents within hours before i was leaving and that 4 people had to be rushed to hospital.. i decided i really didnt wanna @!#$ with going through all that crap.. looks good tho man, i like teh contrast with the black cover and the rest engine bay being silver. plus that fuel rail looks hot. and that motor mount should stay red, u gotta let people know u mean business.. and red = FAST! lol and that tank looks so bad ass. and like i said last weekend, those flames look so nice, pictures do not do them justice AT ALL!

good luck with the wiring next weekend.. i know ur gonna have fun extending all those wires.. i just hope u solder em all.

Well with my brother not showing up last night I got to stay. We got one little nick in the paint the only good thing is it is where the side mount goes so it is not visable, but not bad for a 3 hr job it probably would of been quicker but we didnt wana scratch that sexy paint. And Jason please dont eat Skyline chilli be for we start working on it next week. And ill keep my eyes out for a radiator for ya.

jcavi yeah i saw the post on the saab manifold i think it is and it would look hot polished up. but plans call for a supercharger soon as i can afford it so i hate spending the money on a new manifold i intend on replacing hopefully soon. if money gets short and the supercharger gets pushed back i may go ahead and spend the money on it. we were looking at the intake last night (aem cold air) and the first half of it off the throttle body is plastic as well wich i dont like and we were trying to think of something to do with that as well.

wizkid yeah after seeing how aarons block came out i started thinking i should have painted it as well. but it still looks good in the silver i think.

joe cute? is that good or bad lol

vincent phewes, yeah the valve cover is about the only changes ive had people mention to me. even the painter and wife told me to go silver. but i was really worried about it getting lost in the engine bay, i wanted it to have some contrast to the rest, and since the interior and truck is black, i wanted to keep some black in the bay to go along with the rest of the car. same goes for the air tank in the trunk pictures. when you looked at it before everythign was black and it all just blended together and you lose some of the details (esp in pics) so painting the tank just kinda makes it stand out and give some definition to it. the red in the motor mount was just thrown in as some contrast as well. and for the fact that chances are good that the blud of the bushing wouldn't have matched the blue of the flames and i think it looks worse to have contrasting colors that are the same (light blue with dark blue) i dealt with that problem when i had the blue interior. just hated how i could never get all the blues to match up. weapon r makes an aluminum coolant overflow tank that i may swap in to get some more shiny and clear up the bay some. just not sure on it yet
