So with my 2200 coilpack swap looming over me, I had to decide what to do with the IDI cover. Leave it on and route the plugwires underneath, or remove the IDI cover altogether. I went a completely different route. I had seen a pic one time of someone who made their own IDI cover, which was just plain and flat and ran the plug wires through it. Here's what I came up with.
IDI cover fresh from being powdercoated:
Fins ground down and hole drilled for plug wires:
Grommet to protect plug wires from abrasion(impressed with the perfect fit):
Rough idea of the look i'm going for:
Let the sanding/polishing begin:
Looking forward to getting this done and in the engine bay. Should be a nice upgrade, easy on the eyes too...
Look forward to seeing it done and on the car.
FU Tuning
looks great, post up some pictures when it's finished.
cant wait to see it finish.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
hahaha im sooo dumb, at first i saw the 8 holes and i was like, why would he need 8 plug wires for 4 cylinders...
then i realized ther are the hole to hold the bitch on there
looks great!

WOW that looks good SpeedRacerZ , yours to Mr. Dirtbag
looking forward to finished pics
when i first read the title for this post i was imagining something like what speedracer did. ive seen a few of those on the quad4 forums and they look pretty cool. yours doesnt look that bad either. very nice fit and it looks stock IMO. but i'll have to see it installed in the car for a final opinion...ive always been a big fan of those HO IDI covers. they just look mean and the wires might take away from that. but regardless, get pics of it installed!!
also....on my IDI cover i painted it black and then just sanded down the HIGH OUTPUT QUAD 4 and left the 16v dohc black. if you havent finished it yet it might be an idea for you.

I think it looks good.. But is there a way to fill in the stock holes..? I do think there are too many holes there now.. But I love your Idea.. I left my plug wires under my IDI cover..
