dash.......interesting...I'll have to see more progress of it though.

thanks man.

that polishing is very time consuming. the valve cover isnt that bad other than getting into them little crevaces. the strut bar where it is steel is a PITA to get all of the scratches out of much more difficult than the cover. but ive only been working on the dash for a few hours and have about 10 hrs into the polishing end of things. im off most nights this week so there should be a lot more progress throughout the week

I highly suggest you visit fiberglassforums.com before you go any further on that dash peice. Its clear your dont have the concept of glassing, nor the design aspect down. The polished peices need some work to go as well but I think you already know that.

you should have used ABS plastic on your dash.

try a power tool and a nice felt polishing ball and/or round attachment and some polishing compound or polishing creme... it will take HOURS off of your work!

UFlip06 said it best: Just look underneath the engine and if you see big hairy balls it's a 2.4 Twin Cam, if they're shaved it's an Ecotec and if you see nothing it's a 2200!

We say check that out cause they way you framed in everything, and what it looks like what you started with as a base might not hold up. A smaller lighter frame for the TV would of helped you out a ton, and also not been so tall with a smaller frame.

well when i orginally purchased the screen a plastic cover orginally came with the screen. i threw it out (i shouldnt have but) at the time i had no intentions of molding it into my dash, but now im regretting throwing it out. but i know what you mean with not being so tall.

Freak04 - I know there going to rust thats why i am going to put a coat of clear over everything that is polished.

Well i started sanding the dash and i have most of it completed. just got to fill in some low spots and make that curves a bit smoother. All in all it only took about an hour total. wasnt as bad as i thought. i will post some pics of it sanded tonight.

if you can sand a dash down perfect in an hour or so you should open your own business because even an experienced f/g guy will spend several hours on something like that getting it ready for paint.
