Just a few pics of the noisemakers...
Tuesday, November 21, 2006 4:44 PM
Nothin' too fancy. Slapped a pair of glass pack muffs and stainless tips on the Fire yesterday. Was a really nice day out today so I decided to take some pics before I headed out to Pittsburg to visit the future in-laws... lol They sound really great, but I don't know how I would get a sound or video clip on here. I tried to take a video of it with my phone but the sound quality on it sucks...

the exhaust looks real good in the close ups... not so good in the farther away pics, I like it but I would try to pull the tips in further, they look liek they poke out alittle to far

I still have the stock dual exhuast. I just got rid of the stock mufflers and replaced them with glass packs and the tips. In this pic you can see the glasspacks behind the tips. They're pretty small and the tips are a lot loner underneith the bumper so the glasspacks are pretty well hidden unless you really get down and look.

I only got the tails because I have yellow and black going on wih the car. My windows are tinted black except for the front, and I wanted to do the same with the tails and the headlights. Those were the only black tails I could find. I actually don't mind them as much because they have a nice chrome ummm... cylindrial cone around the red lense that reflects from the side. Kinda matches the same shape as the angled cut tips except upside down, lol. But yeah I only got them beause the were black. I saw somebody on here post last week some 03+ Fire headlights that they painted the inside housing black and put projectors. They looked so bad ass but I don't think I would be able to do that myself without fugging them up. I'll prob have to have someone do that for me, lol.

I thought the same thing at first, too, but I when I looked at it closely the bumper is still the furthers part of the car when you look at it directly from the side. After checkin it out for a while and staring I decided to keep them the way they are. They do stick out about an inch and a half from the inner most part of the bumper, which makes them look like they stick out really far, but it really depends what angle you are looking at the them from which is what I like about the set up. I'll have to take more pictures from different angles and father away so you can see what I mean. I just took pictures close up so you could see the mirror polish better.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I chose those tips. I was originally just going to do like everyone else I see on here and just about every other tuner car I see driving around. I was just going to get big fat cans until spring when I am going to get a catback system and header. I was also aiming for tips with rolled edges because you can see them easier when you are behind the car, but I liked the angle cut sharp edge look better because it was different and also slightly more aggressive. I also have them very slightly angled from eachother for a little extra touch.
All in all I'm happy with them the way they are. I've always been a fan of streetrods and thought that the look of these fit my tastes better than the straight cut rolled edge tips I was going to get originally. I went with the glasspacks just for the sound of course. I wanted it to be louder than it was. In spring I'll be buying a pacesetter header or just have one made for me at the local exhaust shop and a cat back as well, and a highflow cat. I'll be keeping the tips the way they are unless I decided to get quad tips instead. If I went with quads though I would have the same style, but definitely push the back in further, but still where you can see them. Four sticking out would definitely be overkill, lol...

Sorry for the big pictures, too, I took them with my camera phone and didn't think they would be this big.

if i get duals run this spring on my fire, i think im going to go with a similar setup. not too sure about glasspacks though. i had them on my cav and while they give a very nice, deep sound, i think i am going to try and keep this one a bit quieter. either way the tips look pretty good IMO. i dont think they look too far out either, although a straight on pic from the back would help decide. but keep it up man!

Yeah I was worried that it would sound like a riceburner, but they turned out sounding pretty good.

They are a lot louder than that actually, lol. I barely pressed on the gas pedal. All of my neighbors are old and cranky so I didn't want to piss them off by reving the car just sitting in my driveway, lol. It's bad enough when I pull out at 3am on Saturday mornings to go to drive to work. You can get a good idea of what they sound like though from the vid. I can take another vid this week at my friend's garage where I don't have to worry about pissing everyone off. I had totally forgotten that my fiancee's camera had a camcorder option. That vid was the first time I ever used it, lol. I'll use it again this week. I'm in NYC for the weekend so I can't do squat until I get back to PA.
