well i got my konis used with sportlines and i used the mounts that came on them i had a slight klunk so i decided it was time to take it apart. well here is what i find.
Sorry for the crappy pics
i love this pic i miss my black rims
and how my car sits now
Car looks good
What happened to the Black rims
car looks good w/ both sets of rims....although im calling a lil bs and if your going to keep the tein sticker we might as well just trade suspensions that way the decals you have on your car are actually the parts your using.
My suspension has a slight klunk over bumps......now i'm in fear. BTW your cars tight, i liked the black rims more but the srt's are nice too. Nice work.

u know what theyre still on the car i think im gonna have to go take a razorblade to it
Reminds me of my strut mount trouble with my Tein type Basics.
I don't think its any secret, J-body strut mounts suck.
I wrote this post a long time ago, a real long time ago, back in 94.
my idea was for him to try out the 95-99 mounts.
i have a feeling mine are gonna look the same when i replace them this week
*edit: better?

WHAT?

That one looks like its been drilled out to accomodate a larger than oem damper piston rod. From the looks of it whoever did it probabally heated the sleeve up way to much and burned the rubber around it thus leaving it week and prone to popping the sleeve out.

YAY!!! Cheesecake FTW!! BBC IDB
I'd say it looks normal..just like any j-body strut mount that went faulty. The J-body mounts do suck though, I'm on my third set all around. When I installed my gravana's I put 2k mounts up front, thought it would be better...HA..HA..yah right, with the roads here, it actually drove the strut through the mount and into the hood.

that's exactly what happened... I ran into this with my Koni set up... right now I'm just running around on a blown strut mount trying to deke any big bumps in the road... lol
I'm going to pick up a couple new rear mounts and take them to a machine shop and get them to drill out the diameter... they'll do it properly
I used a drill press with some hefty lubrication - and I still got the same result
I've heard some people using Gabriel strut mounts - supposably they are a bit stronger????
I'm glad to see that people are having the same problem I'm having with the Yellows
wow thats weird... i JUST found that same exact thing in my rear on the same side...
stupiddddd
o well new mounts here i come

DAMN!!!
I have 2 messed up strut mounts, that makes me want to get them replaced before my strut goes through the hood. wow
Except a hood would be easier to fix than this problem, this would have gone through the rear quarter had I not been 100 ft. from a secure parking lot.
does anyone have any idea whether the Tein mounts would then be worth it or any other aftermarket mounts if theres anything else available.
The Tein mounts are reason enough to buy the Super Street dampers over the type Basics. Adjustability and pre-loading is a bonus. I modified the installation directions with the type Basics and eliminated that problem as well.

I have the same thing w/ agx and pro kits on some bumps. Now I'm in fear. damn this post.

Words that you can't use in modding: Finished, Perfect, Cheap.
Thats why I rock stock struts on all my lowering springs.......
I kid, I kid!!
BUt seriously that sucks for all you guys, get the Tein SS you'll be very happy, and no more crapy stock mounts!!
