Almost done...Eco SC Install!
Sunday, May 28, 2006 6:21 AM
Well we started off Saturday morning (myself, Chris and Pat) with the Eco supercharger install! Had a few rough spots but nothing we couldn't overcome and got to about an 80% solution.

Problem #1...we needed injector spacers due to the 03 fuel rail swap (need to swap rails to run the new injectors that came with the SC)

Problem #2...I didn't think I had any spacers so we cleaned up and said we'll start again when I get spacers...I found some spacers!!

So problem #1 and #2 solved!

I'm still missing my heat exchanger but I think that will be here this week as well as my 3/4 inch hose for the inter-cooler set up. So, once I get all those parts in we'll finish up this install!! Should have the gauges this week as well (A/F & Boost).

So, based on my experience and what we did yesterday and what I've done today...this works on 2002 Ecotecs. You'll need an 03 fuel rail, lines and regulator to run the injectors as well as spacers (they come with a new fuel rail, or at least they did in mine that was an AC Delco part).

Also, I've not messed with my intake yet so I'll still have to modify it to work or figure out something to do with it. But, other than the intake...I'm about ready to run this thing!

So, it's coming together! On with the pics!!!

Started with this...

Chris (Benji!!)

All the OEM stuff is gone!!!

Pat (CavPat)....

Me under the car...and then me hacking the block a bit!

New manifold in place and a few other things...

Out with the old!!!

And how it sat yesterday...

So all I have to do now is finish up the fuel rail and get all the sensor hooked up and a wiring modification really, plus the belt. Run a few lines for this and that and the charger itself will be done!

Still have the inter-cooler set up to get in and bolt up but don't think that will be too hard. I'm going to wait on the parts to get here before I continue on with the install since the 3/4 hoses run under the actual blower and I'd have to take it off to even get to them!! She sits till all the parts are here but like the subject says...ALMOST DONE!!

Thanks for looking and let me know if any questions.

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

Nice.
So is that just the ecotec 2.2l s/c kit from gm and they are going to reflash ur pcm, or is it one off a 2.0 ss/sc?

Based on what other's are seeing with this kit, I might see 8-9 psi with the intercooler up and running.

I'll have to see once it's all together to know for sure. But a smaller pulley is in my future!

Intercooler is fairly straight foward. Once I got a few pointers from 97CavieJMD and PhlatCav it all made sense!

This is the GMPP Ecotec Supercharger kit from GM. Only thing different is I'm running it on a 2002. Like I said before
I had to swap fuel rails and stuff to make the injectors that come in the kit work. That's what I did anyway.

Thanks for the comments, can't wait to have it ALL together!

Hopefully you remembered to remove that wastegate cap thats still on in the last pic with the manifold.... Im guessing you did but just thought Id mention it. Also, the install looks alot more fun when you start with a clean ass engine bay. Good work.

Check out my car....

Yeah we got it! Hardest thing we had to do of the whole install.

The waste gate cap and few other things mentioned...we got those too.

Thanks though as it never hurts to point out things like that!!! Forget something easy and mess it all up!!!

Not sure on the header thing either, going to wait and see about it as I think I'm redoing my exhasut anyway this fall.

Thanks for the comments!
