Door Panel Speaker Pod Progress

Well... this is a progress thread of sorts I suppose, though most of the actual progress is done.... I got sick of my crappy 4x6's and wanted something unique, so I went to the drawing board. One set of RF 6.5"s and one set of RF 5"s later.....

I skipped some steps with my pics, I guess... but here's the whole structure with fleece and some resin...

The fleece got a bit of dirt on it... but that's just the stain that's left...

Pic after 4 layers of glass, filler, primer... and one layer of paint...

Speakers mocked up inside the pod...

And.... the pod mocked up in a spare door panel...

After realizing this would match nothing in my current interior, I decided to wrap both pods in black Pleather or something like it. Pics of that to come... when I find some decent material.

Comments welcome.... criticism welcome....

not my taste. looks like it needs more sanding, and the left side doesnt line up with the speaker. also, do you have more black in your interior for it to match with?

good idea on covering it up. that thing is no where near ready for paint, still would need a ton more filling and sanding to be paintable. i'd find a cover material that will match up well with what you have, looks like was a good first attempt at fiberglassing, u just need to keep at the filling and sanding and not get to much in a hurry to paint it.

Thanks for the comments and whatnot. Yeah, my biggest thing is getting in a hurry.

Yes, my entire interior is black&red, but it's all stock texture, so two random pieces of FG material wouldn't look right.
Here's what my door panels look like now. The upper part will be recovered with the same material as the speaker pods also.
