A. 's control panel progress
Tuesday, February 21, 2006 9:00 PM
Here is progress pics of a part ive been working on. With my new motor, I will not have a.c. , so i decided to rid my interior of all existing a.c. vents and controls. This peice is currently primed in its fiberglass state, but if you know me then you know this part will be made of full carbonfiber shortly. I think it looks much cleaner than my last setup and I will post pics when the carbon fiber version is finished.

push start ignition, kill switch, nitrous, nitrous purge

carbon fiber monster tach molded in. with this off the pillar it gives room for my full roll cage to fit down the pillar now.

no rpms on my stock gauges... my gauges are the sohc 2.2 gauges with a shift light but no tach. and yes i will need the tach, not a race car but for those who dont know i am currently swapping in a custom turbocharged eco with est. 300 hp. so id rather have the tach. like i said, it looks much better in the dash than mounted on the pillar like it was previously.
the new style im going for with my show car is a classy, clean, functional style. much like the hot rodders build classic cars. nothing to crazy but enough to catch your attention. and it may not be a race car, but it will have a full cage, sparco buckets, 4 pt. harnesses, and a very fast motor. as well as a full carbon exterior. many wont envision what im talking about but i gaurantee when my rebuild is finished you will like it more than its previous state.
thanks for comments.

get a smaller tach and it wont look so bad
or cant you just swap in a cluster with a tach?

sport comp silver or ultra lite tach would look better in my opinion but im partial to them. I think it the dash looks great, and I like the goals for the car....similar to mine actually. How is the visibility of the tach with it installed? When you are driving and need it wont it be a little hard to see? Steering with your left and shifting with your right will make it hard to see unless Im mistaken. Maybe you can install a shift light somewhere low profile just so you know for sure when to shift.

Nice!

I find it interesting on the "kill" switch. Ive never knew about that. You just gave me an idea, that would be cool to dress it up something like that on my dash. Maybe on where the cig lighter used to be before.

Also I thought you will have to swap your engine and interior harness and the cluster too? those clusters for ECO's comes with a tach.

Im really looking forward to see your car finished! Be sure to post your progress pics!

why not replace your stock cluster with autometer gauges? i think that'd be sweet and much cleaner looking.

other than the tach, looks like it'll be sweet.

Well, I like primer look personally. Very.... "Cav Deco". It'll look pimp, plus the carbon will flow with the rest of the car. But, maybe a 4" tach would be better. One of those "need to see in person things". Either way, I DIG the simplicity.

oh.. I can envision it... these eco motors love boost.. hell it dont even need to be built to handle that 300 hp A Jones you have always had an amazing car, so I expect nothing but the best.. and BTW the tach is fine... its when people put them there without and a purpose is when they look tacky (tee hee,pun intended) but you have a purpose and it serves its purpose

Looks a little plain, needs more buttons or something.. That tach is hideous...

Nothing could ruin your car though man, im sure it will look amazing.

I wish you would have sold the old one!

yeah the tach is outta place

Well, I think it'll look awesome once it's covered in c/f. Hopefully the tach doesn't look so outta place then. I just think that maybe a smaller one would look a lot better, but as some other people said, nothing could ruin your car.

Oh, and good choice on getting the cage....never know when you might need it.
