some new drastic changes.

Well I haven't been posting many pics of my current projects that I've been working on.

A few of you might know that I am changing from white and blue to black and blue.

Why change you ask? I love the white and blue combo, it looks so clean and fresh looking, however I wanted to give the car a more aggressive look this season.

Here are a few pics of some projects I have been working on.

two shots of the door panels I am working on:

^ there is alot of excess c/f...reason being is so that I can blend it into the fiberglass for a nice smooth surface before painting the bottom 3rd of the panel. I will try to get these finished within a week or so (depending on school and work).

Rear seat set up:
no more rear buckets any longer. It will house 4 x 12" rockford fosgate subs, two RF amps, and 2 power caps...I will post pics of how I am mounting the amps later.

I fiberglassed a layer in the car:

I ended up making a mold of it, so I could work on the fiberglassing outside of the car, then install the "shell" afterwards.

I have a new dash board that I finished (well 90% completed). My glove box would no longer fit due to the added thickness of fiberglass and c/f...so I went ahead to make an insert for my dvd player and ps2.

I wrapped that in c/f :

^ that is not properly installed, do not mind the ugly gap along the top.

Sold my chrome projector headlights and got these:

^ I also sold my 18" white Ikon rims...I currently have an order being shipped out that should arrive in a week on my new 19" hyperblack Axis Spiders. ( I can't wait to get them)

I will be selilng my hood pretty soon too *cough cough* darren...Then I will be looking for a c/f evo hood *drool*.

I have a black and blue leather steering wheel being shipped out aswell, and I'm picking up my new black seats with blue double stitching next weekend.

It is coming together slowly but surely...I want to get the interior done sooner than later, the cold weather won't help me much at all.

Once the interior is done, the exterior is getting a new makeover.

Well that is my update thus far. I have alot of projects underway right now, and I need to do some touch ups and final finishes to get the car ready for the 06 season.

Also if anyone is interested in some racing seats/sunfirebuckets (blue and white) shoot me an email...here is a pic: Selling the stock steering wheel as well:

I just think the way the CF was layed it looks kind of uneven and the weave doesnt say straight in most of it. I really like the idea of going to black and blue though, like you mentioned it will look a lot more agressive. Good luck, cant wait to see it finished.

You are a much more patient man than I. There is no way I'd go through with laying as much carbon fiber as you have, its a lot of work if you want it to turn out nice. Props on the work, I'm really looking forward to seeing the new look.

I love the black and blue idea. I'll agree with my brother though. That carbon fiber looks like it wasnt layed out very straight. I know its a very hard task to carbon fiber though! I cant wait to see the finished product! I have a feeling its going to look very hot!! Keep up the good work Vince!

Ok, I wanna ask you as well. How do you lay Carbon Fiber straight like it was asked already cause in the picture it doesn't look that straight??
How does it lay over the sharp corners cause I wanna wrap my front bumper and stuff.

When you wanna work with it do you 1st moist the surface with something and stick it on there and then Gel coat it with a roler?
Or do you just lay it on a dry surface and then roll it on with gel or resin or whatever.

I have seen some cheaper hood have blemishes and look like thumb prints in the Carbon fiber where someone pressed it harder and it stayed like that and it doesn't look that good. You seem to have some experience with glass, so how do you make a flawless hood, bumper, fender, or trunk lid? lol Or should I say the least flaws possible.
Cause Carbon is not cheap per yard and ruining it sucks.
Thanks man

I SATCHMOE YOU: I dont have any brackets for them, I already tossed the out. What I did was got some metal, drilled 2 holes in it, and bolted one side to the seat, and one side to the rear seat beltbolt...I only bolted it to the rear two bolts...the front of the seat wasn't bolted. ( I never have backseat passengers ).

sndsgood: I'll get more pics up shortly.

SunCavi_L61T3/T04E: I have layed the c/f as straight as possible...Obviously on a curved area it was harder and some of the weave pattern was distorted, but doing a large curved area is pretty tricky. I took my time working on it, and kept it as good as I could get it.
As for applying it, you apply the c/f as a dry material...Once settled in place, then you add your layers of the expoxy resin. (DO NOT USE FIBERGLASS RESIN, it is not the same thing...it will harden yellow, not clear...use KLEER KOAT).

My door panels should be ready for a light sanding when i get home from school today. I have midterms this week, but I'll try to get more work done on the panels and I'll post more pics up.

Boulas-Design: Ya I love the white and blue theme, I was looking at pics last night and said to myself (was this the right move?)...I guess I can only find out when everything falls in place.

The door panels are gonna look crazy! I have faith that it will looks wicked when its done bro! I dont like the dash still, but maybe ill like it more in person.
The headlights look incredible! and I'm assuming youre going with a CF hood?
The rims I wont even be able to look at, they've been my favorite rims for like 5 years! I'm excited to see what you have planned for the exterior.
As for the sub box, Vince, I'm not impressed at all. Its nice, but not your calibar. You can do something so much more creative. It looks too boxy and "wood" shaped, you have the skills to make it rounded and look so much more custom.
But good luck man!!!

^ ya matt...Don't worry, It is very boxy and squarish...That was just for the basic mold so it could wrap around the boxes behind it. I will be adding more shapes and dimensions to the box...I agree with you fully that box is too "boxy". with the rest of the car being so curvy, that set up wouldn't flow with the rest of the car.
