Time for HIDs ;) 56k wear shades
Sunday, July 24, 2005 3:18 PM
It's been awhile, summer is going by fast but I wanted to make a small update.

I installed a set of HID's from hidynamic.com, 8000k colour temp. They are pretty bright and I have projectors waiting to be installed. Working on the clearance issues within the headlight to put the projectors in. The only other small mods are a Magnaflow muffler and Bear decela rotors with monroe pads for the front.

On to the pics

This was just after I finished installing the kit, first try and they fired up.

Another shot in the day the next morning

Closeup of the rotors

The magnaflow muffler

As for other stuff I was trying to swing a big brake kit for the rear soon and maybe a new battery but that's all for now. I'm too busy to spend the time to get the front emblem in but that is top priority once I get back to Canada. Thanks goes out to IZN Tribal AKA Joshua wirz for his help with the projectors. Like it or hate it post away!

The turn signals are stock but the bulbs are titanium, so they kind of reflect a little.

The HID bulb is just a bit longer than stock so it may not fit behind the projector but I will test it out soon. Let me know how the turn signals turn out.

Aftermarket HID's are absolutely retarded. I hope you aim those things WAY towards the ground. I would stop my car and beat you if you were behind me and saw those things glaring me down in the mirrors.

Have any pictures of where everything for the kit is installed?

I can try to post some up today, the ballasts are mounted behind the bumper crush shield and the ignitors are mounted closer to the headlights. With the current length of the wires mounting this kit anywhere else was not possible. I wanted to mount the hardware in the passenger and drivers fenderwell but there was not enough cable to get to the bulb.

I'll take some pics to show you what I mean.

Awesome thanks! How hard was the install?

The install was very easy, it's all "plug and play" no cutting or splicing at all.

I've never been flashed w my HID's even on 2 lane roads.

I've been flashed more times in my 99 w stock headlights that are aimed correctly.

Okay here are some pictures of where I installed things.

This first one is of the ballast, the location is underneath the radiator shroud and behind the steel crush shield. This was the only location for my kit that allowed the wires to reach the headlight.

This next one is of the ignitor, it is mounted right below the high beam part of the headlight.
There is a metal plate that is a perfect size for the ignitor on the drivers side. The passenger side needs something to mount the ignitor to, I just zip tied the other ignitor to the passenger turn signal bracket.

It really was an easy install, as for water coming through, the only way that is possible is if I run through some really deep puddles (lake sized), the nose grilles are blocked off for now.

In any case this is the driest location possible for the kit and everything is sealed with weather pack connectors.

If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask or send an e-mail

I see one of these posts with every HID thread. They're just annoying now.

Where do the wires with just the prongs on the end go? Instructions just say: for vehicle normal coupler use tape and the like of fixing.
