Christmas in June
Monday, June 20, 2005 8:23 PM
Got home from work today only to find a surprise waiting for me in my room. It seriously felt like Christmas - only 90 degrees hotter. Anyways finally got my KYB GR2 struts and will be lowering the car next week. I will let you all know how it goes.

Its too late to break his heart. Maybe tomorrow, when the "Christmas" wears off he will search and find out for himself.

Hate to rain on your heads but i'm only dropping 1-1.5 inches and going to be extra careful when driving. Not slamming it 3 inches and taking bumps at high speeds. Thanks for the criticism - not like I wasn't expecting it otherwise. I'd be glad for one positive outlook on this board for once. Ah well - I'm still excited.

sounds cool... what are you dropping it with?

I drove around on those struts dropped more than 2 inches for well over a year and the ride was awsome. Dont let these people ruin it for you. Get some pics when you drop it. Whatcha using to drop it?

I am using sprint springs - thanks for the comments guys.

I dropped my car by 1.5 and the struts just didn't hold up very long. Maybe about 3 months until they were shot. I eventaully got koni's, but that was the horrible roads in northern NJ. I hope they hold up for you.

I have sprint springs on my car I'm riding around right now on stock struts. honestly it would be fine except it's bouncy in the rear. the front feels fine to me and doesnt bother me. Ang where did you get the struts and how much? and do you want ne pics of how the car looks with them?

Actually, I have a couple of buddies that have the AGX and sportlines for over a year now and the ride couldn't be better.....I guess it's a game of chance but congrats on the purchase.....I am sure you will enjoy them.

I almost got a set myself.

Yea, the GR-2's are meant to be used as and OEM replacement. 1.8" Will kiss the warranty goodbye on those struts. Give it time, they will blow.

GR-2s are for Stock replacement
AGX's are for lowered cars.

Sprint are not 1.2" They are 1.8" and the last person i know that had GR-2's on Sprint Sprints lasted only about 2 months. Another lasted 8 months. Good luck.

Not to sound like too much like a newbie question(and not tryign to steal the thread), If my stock struts are on their final miles right now and I am going to do a drop within this summer (but not sure how drastic) would getting the AGX's(or any other strut that can be lowered)and then only lowering it like 1.5 inches be a complete waste, or would i be ok getting the struts replaced and then being able to drop as much as I want (and not have to worry about voiding any warranty)? Thanks

Teske ran GR-2's a long time, no one ever gave him crap

Good luck on the new suspension, it should ride decent.

Teske had them on his car but how often did he drive the car. He was always at school his car was usually at GM or trailered to some show, when he came to the bash the car was trailered there. It was not a daily driver. Plus i bet his opinion since he had driven on teh Gravana Coil overs will change on that.

I have had those struts on my car for like 3 years with an intrax 2" drop on my cavy and no problems, except when I tried to fit 18's under those huge perches on there. I shaved them down some and got the things to still work. So I don't know what everyone is talking about. Have fun and lets see that thing dropped.
